Can I come? If all goes well we'll be living out in that neck of the woods by then... it should be easier for us to make all kinds of events this year.

We're shooting for the drive out to happen around the first of December. I'll keep you in the loop.

Great Mike!!! I know you transferred from this area and it will be nice to meet you finally.

Hopefully you can make all or part of LGCIII as well.

Can a KY bear attend these events?
I quite often have to go skiing by myself and would really appreciate someone to ski with - an entire group! That would be great.

Garyskr,

Bears from anywhere are welcome at these get togethers and I assure you you'll have a great time.

Just be at the meeting places and keep your eyes here for schedule changes(not too common).

UL, I was in OK yesterday and was chatting with some folks who are also slightly addicted to skiing . I told them about LGC and showed them bits of Faisasy's video/montage. They can't make it because of spring break issues with their kids, but they said they'd sure like to come to the party!

For those who haven't seen the video/montage, here's the link http://forums.epicski.com/showthread...=37635&page=14 Post #396

Fit in...in a non-conformist sort of way, of course

To uncle louie, ssh and giddyup and all the rest . . .
Thanks so much for the warm response. This year is looking great.
As to when I will be "out there" - My schedule is quite flexible so Breck and A Basin on Jan 27 & 28 look good right now.

Thanks again.
Gary

Gary, what part of KY? I have lots of friends in the greater Cincinnati area and some clients in Florence/Independence area too. Look forward to skiing with you!

To Sugarcube,
South central KY
Franklin to be exact.

Gary, my travels have never taken me that far south in KY...yet! It's always good knowing where friendly Bears are!

I will defintely be in on this one!! As I posted in LGC 3 thread, I turn 60 on Jan. 30th, so I plan on spending the last few days of my 50's with some Bears! I wish I could promise good snow! LewBob

LewBob, that's great! And Happy pre-Birthday!

When did A-Basin become part of Vail Resorts?

I've been coming out to Colo for the past 3 seasons on a Heavenly Pass and I swear it is only good for 3 free days @ KS/Breck/Vail/BC.

I've always been intrigued by A-Basin. Last year we passed on it as I'm told it's more of an advanced mountain and my pops (in his mid-70s) is all about cruising the groomers while I explore the other side.

I don't know what's great about turning 60, expect to say that it means 46 years in a row with at least a few days on skis. Gee, I could be rich if I had invested all that money . Just kiddin'. Lew

Just re-read your post. You mean great I'll be there! Thanks.

It isn't, but they have a pass-sharing relationship. I am not sure about the Heavenly Pass, though. Worth asking; it may work there.

Yes, it's a nice, small area. Kinda old school. It's got some real steeps, and some interesting hike-to terrain. Fun for a day, and great in the spring.

Hmmm. Sounds kind of like the "Sugarwood" Pass they used to have in Tahoe that was for Sugarbowl and Kirkwood, two resorts that to the best of my knowledge aren't owned by the same folks.

And I like Old School. I grew up skiing Sugarbowl (my dad was a weekend Ski Patrol there in the '60s and '70s) and have an affinity for Alpine Meadows and Homewood, both of which feel Old School to me in terms of Tahoe.

Love Alta, as well, out of the 3 Utah resorts I've been too, because of it's O.G. vibe.

Sadly, I've only been to Keystone, Copper, Breck, Vail, and BC in Colo. Like the vibe at Keystone best and have had some great skiing off of Peaks 7/8 at Breck. I can do w/o Vail and need to hit BC on a good day (the time we skied there 2 seasons ago it was cold as ice, stormy, and there was lots of ice and wind...i'd give it another crack, though).

LewBob, glad you’ll be celebrating the almost-big day with the us! Hope to see you and your wife again soon. Okay, Bears—who else is coming to wish Lew a great day? Oh yeah…and ski?!!!

I will be TRYING.... just can't commit.

Work schedule and buckage will be the deciding factors. With a kid in college this year things are going to be much tighter.

Would love to make it though.

Nice to see you posting again Frau and really hope you can make it. You'll love skiing with this group.

I'm stoked! Our house is under contract now! We should be in Colorado for good around the 7th of January or so. What a birthday present that will be!
