Has anyone skied Scotty Bob's alpine skis?

Wow. Cool. I'd love to get on a pair...

G3 also makes skis with an asymmetric sidecut.

Heard a rumor from a local shop here in the SF Bay Area that Scotty Bobs are not made in China.

Anybody know if there's any truth to that?

Same local shop, which predominantly carries Volkl, Saloman, Stockli, and Head skis said that they had tried the SBs (and 4Frnt skis) and enjoyed them enough to consider stocking them (this came up because I had them mount my AK No Ka Oi's and they were smitten by the ski, so we started discussing smaller companies).

I met Scotty Bob last year and he talked about how he was bummed out about the decision to move production overseas to China. I don't know that this is true for all of his skis. I think it is safe to say that he (and his business partner) are caught up in the tension between trying to grow the company and retain control over production.

I didn't see a price for their skis on their website. What's a pair set you back?

I sent an email to Scotty Bob's asking this question. We'll see if I get an answer.

Yes. I was one of the ski testers for the first prototypes about 3 years ago. Living near Mt. Hood,Or. I have the opp. to ski almost year round. They are stable at higher speeds (+40 mph) and performed marvelously. Very quick from edge to edge. The only draw back I noticed was they did not like to be skidded. Felt like a boat anchor tied to your feet. I can't say enough good things about their product and people at Scotty Bob's.
