Supporter renewal discussion - Page 3

Those are some cool developments Nolo. The certification classrooms I would definitely be interested in.
I tried to find the acronym definition of SAF and didn't find anything that fit. I guess it means stuff he is not interested in . We all have our preferences. I find the lounge most comfortable and some enhancements in the form of learing and sharing I am surely going to take part. The future is bright for Epicski and for us to support these changes makes it a worthy investment .

I am enthusiastic to support Epicski.

Please provide me with Epicski's corporate taxpayer ID #, or, if Epicski is a not-for-profit, then provide me with Epicski's 501 (c) 3 incorporation number, so that i might include it on the check which I send Epic, for purposes of my own personal tax deduction.

Thank you

Just out of curiosity I wonder why EpicSki owners do not look into selling advetising space to vendors or manufacturers? With the high volume of members I would think many vendors would be willing to pay top dollar for space at a high visibility ski site. If you are looking for money to maintain the site such revenue streams would make donations look paltry in comparison.

and $20 is going to make a big difference on this years tax return. Darn, I didn't write my donation off. Can I do it on next years?

EpicSki is not a 501(c)3 corporation so you can't write a donation off on your taxes. Last year we queried the membership about allowing advertising on the site to help pay the costs of operation and the answer was a resounding no, so we don't do popups or banner advertising. ESA, supporter donations and volunteerism is what keeps us up and running.

I chair several education charities, and my total personal deductions, annually, are substantial enough to warrant one singular deduction with
receipts attached.

There are several thresholds for each class, by dollar value, and every penny counts.

Epicski, in soliciting "donations", might consider running as an education charity, and I would be pleased to avail my pro bono assistance in applying for same.

Solicitation of "donations" without a 501 (c) series status seal of incorporation is frowned upon both by the IRS and most states' attorneys general.

For my own protection in my donation, I would ask for Epicski's taxpayer ID # and an ensuing receipt.

Thanks

Hem

Sorry, I don't have the number committed to memory and I do not have that file with me at the moment. Again, you can't write off the donation. We don't want to be a charity. (What--we are organized to benefit a segment of the population with the wherewithall to ski??? How can skiing be construed as pro bono populi? No, I'm not interested in straining definitions that finely.)

Thanks for your offer of assistance anyway.

There are some wonderful advantages to a corporation like Epicksi operating as a not-for-profit education org.

I can produce the taxpayer ID tomorrow, when I get to my office. It's Sunday, after all.

Hem, I have an extensive background with 501(c)3 ski organizations, and have set a number of them up, so I understand the advantages and restrictions.

Thank You, I do not doubt your background one iota.

I don't need the # for my check (unless it had been a 501), and
I am confiednt that you have put into place the best possible system of incorporation.

The restrictions concerning 501 operation can be daunting, that is certain.

The bottom line is that i look forward to getting my $ to you all.

This is a very tidy organization and the educational contributors appear top-notch.

Epicski is more-than-worthy of greater support.

Nolo - I let mine slide too (sorry), but renewed it last week through Paypal. I put my username in the little message box, but it seems like it still hasn't been registered, as I see the Lounge as "Private".

Any idea how long it should take?? I'm missing the 'banter' in there!
Sorry, JimmyP--for some reason every once in a while PayPal neglects to notify me of a payment. Your account has been updated now and a note of thanks sent to your email address. Thank you!
Hey...I didn't get a thank you note! I tell ya...I get no respect...
I sent a thank you note to the email on your PayPal receipt, irul, 9/7/06. I resent it as a PM this p.m.

I originally made the move from member to supporter in December '04 to January '05. After Katrina while I was in a "giving" mood and getting much value out of epic I kicked in my "annual" at that time and created a new anniversary date. Now that I got the email telling me I am due for renewal I am testing the software to see how long before I get cut off and will kick in this year's then.

Nolo - I'm in again! Thanks.

Just so you're aware, right now this process is manual, but we're working on getting it automated... So, any reminders you get have to be manually generated and manually followed-up.

Shoot, and here I wanted to be the "Beta" Blocked Supporter.

If our status reverts without us being given notice, by some fluke, will all PM's over the member limit of 25 be deleted?
If I ask for $5 of the money I donated back, because I'm short on money for a six pack, would that be a problem?

Somebody told me you were $5 short of a six pack... (but maybe they meant something else? )

Only yours...

I am pretty sure that the answer is "No", but you'll have a full PM box until you get it below that number. I'll check into this in detail, but not until tomorrow at the earliest.

I just wanted to tell the folks I just sent the reminder to that I erred in defining the 30 day grace period--it is from the date of your last donation or from the date of the notice, which ever is later. My apologies for any inconvenience my poor diction may have caused.
