Arc'teryx is beautiful stuff. Had their sidewinder shell in a little darker blue than the one you showed, it was excellent.....till it got nicked.

Hope you enjoy the new purchase soon, maybe pay a trip with it to a walk in freezer and try it out proper.

350. I paid 250 for my insulated spyder (retail 400), so this will be the most expensive jacket I've owned, both in terms of what I paid and retail.

Really? I'd expect that comment about my spyder, possibly, but not about the alpha sv. Whatever.

DD223, get out in the rain and start enjoying your foul weather gear.

MLH, brilliant to use a LiveStong type rubber band to hold your skis together (at the tails). That's one of those great ideas that leaves everyone wondering "Why didn't I think of that?".

Acteryx sure has a great reputation, but I just can't come at the prices. For non=downpour skiing, I'm very happy with my spyder dacks and rossi parka (actually the rossi is goretex XCR so it'd do in a downpour, too). I like insulated stuff with lots of vents.

Went and had a look through the new Patagonia stuff for the upcomign season (it's on their website) and there were some very interesting things.

As for the band, I use the bands they sell around broccoli and asparagus in the US to hold my brakes for tuning! I found a few of those wrist bands with afirmations on them (also in the US) and tried them for the same thing, but they didn't seem stretchy enough.

thanks. They are the braclets that smuggs makes you wear in order to get into the pools and such, dont know why.

Now i want $.50 every time someone uses a band in that order
its my intillectual property and i want enough money to get to jackson this year out of it

I got the Arcteryx Sidewinder SV for this coming season. Yeah, it's spendy, but there's no substitute for good quality gear.

I find that ignorance is a great substitute, actually. I have no idea how much better an Arcteryx is than my hardshell, and so I don't feel I'm missing a thing.

Speaking of arcteryx, check out this deal:

Patriot SV for 196. Insulated XCR jacket.

Just got the Jacket a month ago at Sierratradingpost.com for $189. Great coat and great price! ArcTeryx makes great gear. After years of rebuying lesser quality gear, I know swear by Arcteryx gear.

The Rx8's are fantastic skis. They make any length turn and are very quick and predictable skis. Enjoy.
