Volanaddict's Horendous gear overexpendature thread!!!

Well, I figured this subject deserved renewing and beating to death.

I have been busy, NOT adding more Volants to my quiver as you all probably thought when you saw the title, but gearing myself up for backcountry skiing! Since the end of last season I have bought the following:

-Ortovox F1 Avalanche beacon
-Ortovox 240cm Avalanche probe
-Ortovox Alaska Avalanche shovel
-Fritschi Freeride AT bindings
-183cm RD Coyote Heli Dogs*
-Smith Prodigy goggles (hey, I got a deal on SAC!)
-EMS Ski Pack
-and in the works Scarpa Laser AT boots

*Yes I know they're not Volants but wimpy fiberglass topsheets are lighter fo going UPhill.

I'll be paying this off untill I reach the ripe old age of 109. Not really, maybe more like 79, I got some screamin' deals.

So, anyone else care to confess/brag of their horrendous expenditures, m' Phil?

Yeah I was quite surprised when I saw your bid...way to throw some $$ around for a good cause...the karma will come back around
It looks like you'll be heading off the beaten path a bit this winter

Here's a little something to tide you over till winter...

Are you also going to buy skins? Lessons on how to use all that stuff? At least you won't be spending on lift tickets. Oh, but you have a season pass, so a day in the backcountry means a day lift ticket thrown in the trash.

Doesn't sound like a horendous overexpendature to me. Good investment. I don't get all the Volans though. Have fun out there and be safe.

Something else to add to your list:

Cell phone that works anywhere you are.
Ski buddy!

Heck, if you were smart, you say that you typed it correctly and the overzelous moderator staff messed it up to make you look bad.....yea that's what happened. I'm sure that's it!:

At any rate, I too have been in a gear buying mood. Here is a copy of the post I put in the Chicks with Quivers Thread:
I think I have a problem. Phil says I don't, my husband thinks it's not out of control YET, but my UPS man is wondering why he has delivered 5 ski shaped boxes to my address in the past three weeks.

To my quiver, I need to add:
Teledaddy's 163(binding to be announced)
K2 Burnin Luvs 167
The Ski 162
Karma's 169

I am sooooooooooooo lucky my husband is a gear whore too! I think he really understands.
Although he is not thrilled about the "non-volkl" additions to the ski family!:

I'm sure you've heard it, but congrats! Oh, and having three little ones that you will eventually need to "gear up" will allow your gear collection to bloom like you never imagined.

I thought maybe you felt some karmic bond with my old skis and you just had to have them

Is the gathering in tahoe? Traveling is out of our budget this season but if it's local I'll definitely stop by!!

No doubt, so what's in your quiver now, I'd like to know, since apparently, they're destined to be mine eventually!

I thought about the mod correction, but then my post about mispelling would't make sense, and GOD FORBID I mess with the continuity of the thread.

By the way, nice quiver building; I bid on a pair of Teledaddys last week, but someone wanted them more than my creditcard could stand. Last year, the UPS guy who was delivering all my skis was somewhat puzzled too.

Thanks. And in the gear reviews in Ski Mag, I saw the new Barbie skis (Elans). My daughter actually jumped up and down on the sofa yelling "I want those!" : . If her Rossi Princess skis don't fit in this years boots, she may end up getting them.

Yes I still need skins, but I'm going to lay off for a little bit until a screamin' deal on 110 mm ones comes along (And it shall, oh yes it shall). The BC gear is for when the snow at the Bowl gets all skied down and for weekends when the hoards clog the slopes. Not to mention pre season and post season. I'll probably do some longer tours to, I have a friend who's been recruiting me as a BC partner he's been doing it for years.

Now, back to the topic at hand. Lets hear about those horrendous expenditures! :

Blame it on the Maibock?
Has to be.
How many beers does it take to get you to spell like that and neither care nor notice??

Sometimes for me it takes none. Thank google for search engines with a dictionary

Oof, well you surely outspent me, hey, wait a minute, didn't you buy Legend Pros and P12s last summer too? Thanks for your contribution to my HORRENDOUS GEAR OVEREXPENDITURE THREAD.

You feel my pain? Would that be the toothache or the hangover?

Seriously though, I'm really psyched to get the gear, but I'm stretching my funds awfully thin. At least I'll have something to show for it.:

And now back to the horrendous gear overexpenditures.......

Yeah I know, at least another hundred, I haven't found any 110s for less than $120. But that will give me reason to make another post in my HORRENDOUS GEAR OVEREXPENDITURE THREAD.

I'm getting a pass, even if it means maxing out yet another credit card. I'll just have to cut back on eating or something else nonessential.
I didn't buy any B.C. stuff as I don't have a local buddy to ski it with. Maybe next year or later in this one

I did pick up a few things tho.

Rossi B-squads 184's Axial 140ti's to keep me on them. 600 bucks for both, e:bay

Leki vision ,trigger poles 100 $ Al's ski Barn

Some Spy goggles from S&C around 30 $

Some stuff from Plakespeare auction. Anon goggles and a cool pic . 68$

Altimeter, barometer, heart monitor 90$

Compass, temp gauge and led flashlight combo. It even tells the time w/alarm also. 26$

A ton (12 lbs)of wax from xtrpickels and racewax .com 70 bucks

All season M+S tiresfor my car . Fresh and new for winter. Michelins . Yep French . Screaming deal from costco 295 w/coupon for 60 bucks off

It isn't how much you spend but how you spend it wisely

Dang, nice quiver. I expect I'd love the LPs too, but I really hate the graphics, and I prefer not to soil myself.

Oh I'll make it to Tahoe alright, I have to, when I went to Squaw KT-22 was closed.:
