What is with you guys!?
I didn't say I'd supply the "special surprise".
I wished he'd get a Special surprise!
I may have to use my special mod powers for evil and edit my post to make you guys look stupid! That shouldn't be too difficult, and it may just give Rick a little laugh on his birthday!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. Spent the day defying my age. : It's the big 5-0 this year!! Dang, how the heck did that happen?? Aint it funny how the years look worse when viewed from afar than they do when you have them in your pocket. The concept I had of age 50 when I was young, and the way I feel and act now upon reaching it just don't jive.

Trekchick, no idea what the SPECIAL SURPRISE thing is all about, but you make it sound soooooo intriguing. : Is it bigger than a bread box??

Colorado, Lars, and loving every day of it. But if your question was in regard to my presence on Epic. I post very infrequently these days, so far only to my friends on important personal occasions, and never on the instructional forum. Can't say what the future holds.

Nope, Disski, didn't get proofed today. Didn't even get that other thing today. That's OK, I just figure my present came early this year.

Thanks, Nolo, but in my case your wish was redundant. My peace IS my prosperity. I'm fortunate to have been blessed with an abundance.

Bonni, I'll proudly take that discount. You know what they say; birthdays are very good for your health. Those who have the most seem to live the longest. :

DD and SSH, I'm sure we'll slide together again this year. And an invite to everyone else in this thread; if you get to Summit County this year please PM me. Nothing better than spending a day on a Colorado mountain with friends.

Thanks again, everyone. RICK

I'm trying to get to your part of the world next March... does the offer still stand for next year?

First:
50! My husband is a few months away from the 1/2 Century mark, and he is eagerly waiting the moment he can glean from the Senior Discounts!

Second:
Something special is something you have to figure out for yourself. Something tells me that you've got IT!

Third:
The invite to Summit County may be something you come to regret.

Glad you had a happy day!

Happy birthday Rick. I never get carded in the US any more... although last season I was having a bad hair day (needed a wash) so I wore the resort uniform baseball cap all day and the supermarket guy asked for ID. so if you want to look young, wear a baseball cap I guess.

Hey Fastman, welcome to the old fart club. I'm glad to see you're still around. Perhaps we'll meet and ski someday.
I didn't handle 50 very well. It was one of those goals I set in early life, to make it to 50. Now that I did that, what's next? Went off by myself for a week, didn't tell anyone where I was going, went skiing of course. Gambled a little, got drunk a few times, took pain killers too often, ( had a rather badly torn rotator cuff injury) went back home and settled into the groove again. Wife didn't talk to me for a month or so but we all lived through it. Told me I was being childish, imagine that? I don't look forward to birthdays anymore. It's just another day. The nice thing about birthdays anymore is the fact that your friends and family deluge you with niceness and good will. It reminds you that you are loved and do have a purpose in the real world.

The invite is good whenever you are in this neck of the woods, Little T. No expiration date.

Or they're lobbying for inclusion in the will.

And what a great club it is. The only yearly dues are collected through arthritis, vision fade, and memory loss. : Perhaps we can ski together one day. Just keep in mind, I'm best after 11, but my nap time is at 2.

Happy Birthday, Rick, and remember, everytime you get a year older, so does everyone else in the world.

Me neither. I really never believed in making 50. Kinda hold over from my rock star days past. "hope I die before I get old" = The Who

In fact just a few days from my 50th, I had emergency gall bladder removal....doctor said surpised it didn't burst...which of course would have meant no birthday. My 50th was in recovery....never had a 50th bash(thank goodness) my wife's conspiring got done in by the surgery.

Of course I got the ultimate belated birthday present...sawx won the series. A glorious event made even more special by my circumstances. Ortiz walk off div series winner against the Angels? No cable in the hospital missed it. That was the lowest point. Getting back on the mountain was a huge hurdle....and last years super shaped ski breakthru's.....thanks to all on epic(esp Cirquerider) what a ski season it was!!!

But this is about Rick....who I sorely miss here....

Happy birthday Rick!!!

No more rock for me, I strictly play the blues now:

Wow, Rick actually surfaced! I was wondering if he would. Oh well good to see you poke your words in here again. Your voice has been missed. Happy 50!
