I am in the middle of replacing a factory plate on an '03 RX8 F-Ti with a Vist plate (Absorber series).

The factory plate had two rubbery blocks with hard plastic shell covers, one over each rubber block. There is a third hard plastic shell cover spanning the distance between the outer ones. It rests on longitudinally scalloped ramps formed in the rubber blocks.

Are the rubber plate blocks a critical part of the 'frequency tuning' so avidly advertised? If these are at the nodes of a controlled vibration mode then the Vist plate isn't quite big enough at my bootsole size to span both.
