Yes, there a lot of us on this site! Welcome

Most definitely.

Rick, I thought Vertical Drop packed you up into storage every summer when they put the patio furniture out. Should be at least 3 more months until we see you posting

I'm here. Ski Alpine Valley most of the time. I did make it to Wilmot late last season. I plan on buying the skiingwisconsin.com "Gold Card Coupon Book" this year and try a few other places.

I second this motion. It looks like a lot of us, understandably, spend a good deal of time at AV.

Any volunteers for organizing the 1st annual Midwest Epic gathering this winter?

Cheers,

I'll be back in the Milwaukee area this year. Usually do Alpine Valley, Little Switz, and Sunburst, occasionally Cascade.

Any time you feel like traveling a few miles north, let me know.
In fact, I was thinking of the possibility of a group rate and planning a weekend for a Meet on the Hill planning.
Maybe Crystal Mountain, or Boyne ?

i'm in chicago too, though i'm noobie enough that i wonder if i can rightfully call myself a skier. though maybe the internal countdown to winter and daily checking on my skis and assuring them they'll be on snow soon is enough

Indianapolis here....close enough!

Live in Wheaton and ski 4lakes, Wilmot, Alpine, Cascade, Boyne, Boyne Highlands, Indianhead, Chestnut Mt, and out west whenever I can. Or at least did for decades until I got sick last year. Unfortunately, started this year as a quadriplegic but hope to ski again soon. Walking now and completely independent but have a long way to recover and ski safely but that is my goal.

Have a new pair of Volkl Allstars, unmounted, that call out to me every time I go into my basement. Can't wait to ski again.

Working in the area for the short term (until January). How early can turns be gotten and where?
Wow, bsimeral sorry to hear about that. I wish you a quick and full recovery.
I live right off the IL Praire Path in Wayne. If you or anyone else ever wants to take a bike ride or do some preseason conditioning, drop me a pm.

Last year i was at Alpine November 19 opening day. $15 passes, and like 4 runs, but toatally worth it. That was a pretty early opening, and they had to re-open each weekend for about three weeks after that.

Lake Villa here. I ski Alpine Valley regularly. Its a half hour farther than Wilmot for me but well worth the drive. Usually get up to Granite Peak a few times a year, hopefully more this season.

Hello, this is my first post.
I am from South Haven Michigan about 2.5 hours North of Chicago on Lake Michigan. We usually ski Timber Ridge and Bitter Sweet...

Man-made snow is king here, so the resorts open as soon as it gets cold enough to blow. I got my first turns around that same time last year.

OK, I will grab this by the horns. Lets plan on an on hill at the Alpine Valley demo in December. I will get the exact date when the rep group gets it finalized, and post it in the on hill meeting forum. I do believe that i will be able to get some good deals on lifts also. If we all get together we can plan one every month. we need to get the southern Wisconsin group involved also. SLATZ!

That sounds like a done deal. The Demo Days is usually a Saturday in mid December, so probably the 16th this year. Will be nice to finally get a chance to ski with you and the other midwest bears.

Wish I could ride a bike but activities like that are still in the future. My strength is only 50% at best and my balance is not that great due to muscle weakness. Fell on father's day and broke my collarbone so I will not take more chances until I am stronger and more confident.

My new allstars call out to me everytime I go into the basement.....hope I get to use them soon.

For now, the fastest mode of locomotion is walking for me. Thanks for your offer though.

Sounds like a plan, post some dates in this threde when you get them, becuase i know i dont not frequent the meet on the hill planning area, and other probably dont either.
True. Without a PM or reason to go in that forum I usually don't. When rockfordSkiMan gets some dates figured out I will send out PMs to anyone that posts here with interest to keep them informed.

Don't forget about Devil's Head and Tyrol Basin. Just don't stay at Devil's Head.
