I am counting the days till I can hit the slopes again. This summer has been a bit of a scorcher....it seems to my best recollection after an extreme summer we have an extreme winter. What do you all think, lots of snow in the east this year?

10 days!
I'm going to South America. It will feel really good after this week as we climb back up toward 100, again.

Does anyone know what the Farmer's Almanac says about snow, the winter coming up in the Northeast? And was it right about last season. Bummer.

The Farmers Almanac is calling for an earlier than normal winter, with an earlier than normal wrap-up. Here's part of what they say:

October 2006 feels like November
November is like mid-December
December like early January 2007
January is like mid-February 2007
Mid-February is like March 2007
March 2007 is like early May
April like early June 2007

Very often they're wrong, though. My read -- we'll know what the weather is when it gets here.

If this is true, we are sure to have an awesome ESA Stowe!

Yes, we all know the weather when it gets here. And only then. I have never heard anyone say; "I heard this winter is going to suck."

Gee, thanks for pointing that out.

I guess here's what I should've said:

"The Farmers Almanac is often unreliable, as is most weather forecasting, so I guess there's no real way we can know what the weather is until we're closer to the actual day. But we can always hope."

Better?

Trayc - bring some of that cold back with you!

I'm not holding my breath for a good winter. My guess is that it is going to suck , because every time we have an extremely hot summer, we have a warm winter. It's like the winter temps follow right along with the summer temps. Warmer than normal summer means warmer than normal winter.

Just being pessimistic because I know I won't ski much due to too many babies. I will, however, be able to attend the PSIA Master's Academy at K'ton in December, and I may be able to start teaching one day a week again.

This is not necessarily true. In 1993 we had one of the hottest summers I can remember(sending workers home early, to avoid heat stroke), and the winter was our biggest year thawing water lines with temeratures -28F. I know this because I worked in both environments

Now, John, are you really a pessimist?
Some think the glass if half full, some think it's half empty, and then there are those who just want to know who took half their stuff!
