2007 Ac 4
I have a pair of 2007 AC 4's that I got in march.
I never tried the 2006 so I can't give you a comparasion, but I can say I skied the '07 five days in March and April at Wildcat, NH in conditions from hardpack/ice to 24" of heavy pow ( April 5).
Thaey are a lot of fun. On the hard pack they hold AND carve very well. Not qite like my Atomic M B:5, but alot of fun on hard NE conditions. Not a problem getting an edge set on icey hard snow as you may think.
In the pow they don't float as well as I would really like, but work fine. On all the crud and in between they are wonderfull. A great one ski quiver for east coast I think ( if you have to make that choice). Very easy to initate a turn and VERY stable at straight ahead speed.
I kinda think they could replace my B:5 ; as the ac4 is extremely versatile for an everyday day east coast ski; and get something wider and a touch longer for the deeper, heavier snow.
But, i can't part w/ the B:5, as its more hard snow orientation w/ pretty fair deep snow performance make it a keeper. ( for Now) But there is a definite overlap betweeen the two.
The flex seem stiffer than the 06 in the shop, I'm 6' and 215lbs AND I ski it in 170 as to keep an tight turn radius available for the ski style that is appropriate here in the New Hampshire and Vermont mountains.( for me anyway)
As always, YMMV
PS: Se DAWGCATHING's review of both the AC4 and IM 82 for a nice comparison of the two.http://forums.epicski.com/showthread.php?t=36575
