I think things like GPS caddies ruin the game.
More power to people using them, no biggie. I just like to practice estimating distances. It is good for you. Some people think 500 yards is a mile. gotta get them to get their crap together. haha.
I immagine a lot of smaller courses wont be on the GPS caddy though. Another reason I woudln't get one. I'm lucky to have 12 courses withen 30 mins of me though. Okay maybe not 12, but atleast 8. There might be a couple I dont know about. =)
I run a Driver, I think its called Large Marge. I'ma upgrade to a newer style driver though. it's a 350 with a 10 loft. I drilled a hole and taped threads into it and threw in a set screw, so i can adjust the weight in there, i have a few bb's inside. hehe. =)
I got a custom set of fitted clubs, some knockoffs, I duno the brand, they hit so good, but they are getting old, but if they work, why change. 3-PW on those. I also carry a 2 iron that is a Ping, and I have a wide assortment of wedges.
I have some steel womens wedge that has a crazy loft on it, I put a new shaft on it, the dang thing had a solid shaft, forget hitting a consistant shot with that!
I also have a Sam Sneed Pitching Wedge. I found it in the woods. Just needed a new grip, somebody chucked it in there, its one of my best hitting clubs. I call it the "secret weapon"
I had a gap wedge for a long long time, it was my most used club in the bag. well as an expeeriment club, i didn't expet it to last forever, but it broke on the hozzle!! I had the heal shaved off so radically that hitting out of the heather wasn't even hard. That thing could trim trees for ya really quick if you had some branches in the way. I redid the grooves in it too with the dremmel. I needed to remachien the face, at some time i managed to get a little worble in it. Thanks wirewheel grinder. Alas i found an 18 dollar Gap wedge of the same loft at mijers, it was on sale. I garbled taht bugger up.
I needed a club for the 120 range, when i lost my first gap wedge, my game went to shiz. My PW is not very good at 120. I can hit it anything under 100 or anything over 120. The gap hits thta consistant range in the 100-120's that i need, pluss is great around the green and good over trees.
Remember, play man golf, not sissy golf. hit over the tree's, take the hard shots. its more fun!
Oh, I tried that hammer driver this last year. That special deal for the PGA tour guy, supposto be longest hitting driver.
Ya thats a crock of crap.
My 350 can easily out drive it 30 yards.
However, It does not effect the spin on the ball as much, so if you are having some hooking problems, it will help keep ya in the middle.
I had a horrible hook issue last year, i couldn't shake it at all, really frustrated my game, cause it was only on teh drive, never on the irons.
