Well you never know!

Ghanaian Kwame failed in his attempt to qualify for the Turin Olympics last time out (after just three years on skis, not too surprising!), but undeterred he's launched a search for the next generation of Ghanaian alpine skiers. Kwame hopes that Ted Ligety will be joining the Ghanaian Team in Accra, Ghana in June, to help identify two young talented athletes to join him in training in the Alps next winter.

Great guy - Kwame stayed with us for a week last Autumn, training up on the Tignes glacier in France. No publicity stunt this as far as Kwame is concerned, his goal is to demonstrate that young black Africans, given the facilities and training available to European and North American skiers, can compete up there with the best.

Various tests of athleticism, agility, fitness etc during the June tests, but the only skiing available close to the Equator in this lowland West African country is ... grass skiing!

A pic of Ted Ligety on grass skis? That would be something!

I've written this piece about Kwame's projects.
