I skied Alpine most of the day today. I left at about two for a slow, scenic, drive home up the old highway. I stopped by the bridge with my partner to check out the snow conditions and started to eye the tunnel for the 100th time. Something inside said it was time. We drove down to where it was pretty close to the road,(one turn down from the bridge), hiked up, amidst avalanche runouts. Going across one by one, not cutting the slope too much, testing the snow, of course, until I got up there. Pulled out the camera and threw off it. Slush landing, pretty hard, but soft enough to ski out ok. Only problem was I did it in shorts so the ice particles sliced up my legs. But hey. I've looked a 100 times, heard a 100 tales, now I've got my own!!
