i know that here in the sierras you have a choice between squaw (till memorial day), alpine meadows (till this sunday) and mammoth (till july 4th).

In Colorado, A-Basin is open until June 4th. I was there Sunday, and although it was a warm day, the coverage is still good and the skiing was fine (at least until the thunderstorms started building about 2 pm).

The snowpack here in Mammoth is 10-15 feet and we are expecting 1-2 feet of fresh. The Mt jsut started build the spring park up at 10,000 feet.

Things are going off big time in Mammoth.

Go here for the Video Snow Report on Mammoth Mt.:

Our resort UNDER reports snowfall as they measure at the worst place possible.

PS I live ayt the bottom of town at it is now snowing here. More Pow turns in the morning...

We got 12 inches plus up where it counts. Sure the base got less but unless you want to ski greeen runs who cares. Funny how some people jump on me BEFORE the storm is over. Duh...

Pictures and Video here: www.mammoth-snowman.com

Come on out we have 10-15 feet and no one is here!

PS: I do not work for Mammoth Mt...

My skis sit right inside my garage door by my bike and they are constantly complaining about the bike getting all the love. I might have to get down to Bachelor and get some final turns in so they'll shut up!

Mt. Hood all summer!

that's right up my alley. i love telling folks around town that i'm still skiing 2 months after i get the first "guess you're done for the season" comments from those who can't wait for the warm weather to arrive. i love loading up the car on a warm spring morning knowing that i'm just a couple of hours away from skiing soft bumps in a tee shirt:

i may get funny looks, but after 5weeks off the snow, i'll be smiling the whole way there.

Just got back from Mammoth today. They still have an 8-10 foot base and the conditions were really fun. Huge top-to-bottom coverage, great corn snow, no rocks poking through, what can I say? Can't wait to ski there on July 4th---should be awesome. What are all you East Coasters doing moaning about the season being over anyway? Come on out here to the Eastern Sierra and get your jollies out at Wooly!!!

no moaning from me! just four days (and a pile of work...at work) to go

it's been over four weeks since my last ski weekend...and it's been feeling like july here. i can't wait to shock my system to the site of 3K vert of SNOW:
I managed to get in a 5400' vertical run this weekend...5 hours of hiking for 20 minutes of pure pleasure.
Harry- where did you ski? I am planning a trip to Adams in July. Amr Andalkar says you can get 8000 vert in a good year there.
Rainer.

I was planning to go to Adams last weekend, but the road was still snowed in 5 miles from the trailhead - would have added 10 miles round trip to the venture. 6,000 to 7,000 vertical is feasible on Adams in the summer, I don't know any routes that are more than that, but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm planning on skiing from the summit of Adams in June or July, as well as Baker.

I love big long runs.
