No go on the eBay route... Just nabbed a pair of Mojo 90's (193's) for a pretty good deal but no love on the Speedmachine 12's.

Loveland lead... Do you have a direct number I should call?

i don't have the number in my phone. i always have to call directory assistance in Georgetown. don't confuse loveland the town in colorado with the ski area when you call. ask for georgetown info and they will give you the number. i know they have SM 14's in stock. don't know about 12's. i have used the 14 this season and love it.

act fast because the sale ends this weekend in timing with their closing.

Contacted Sue at Loveland... super nice. Unfortunately it was a no go on the boots. Out until next years arrive. Any other recommendations? I appreciate the leads!

More history... I'd go for the Speedmachine 14's but I think as a 10-hour a day boot it'd be too stiff. The size of the Beast 12 would probably be nice for comfort, but I don't know if that boot would perform to my expectations. I'm 29 years old, 6'3" 190-ish and gave up on the race scene years ago. I still like to haul butt and go big, I just prefer doing it away from the groomers. I actually prefer having a boot with some flex and in really cold weather having a somewhat softer boot to begin with can make the day a little easier on the feet and lower legs. I'm riding an older set of Nordica "free ride" boots.... the old Yellow and Blue carver boots. After 400+ days of use they are ready for retirement. (sigh)

edit: I got my feet measured at Footloose (Mammoth) a few days ago. On their gizmo I measured out to needing a 27.5. I've got a fairly wide forefoot and a good arch. I've been searching for forefoot width and have come up with a few numbers... the Beast 12 is around 100 to 103mm, depending on the source. It appears the Speedmachine 12 is 100mm, or 101mm, depending on who you talk to. Does anyone have SPECIFIC and ACCURATE information on the forefoot width of the Speedmachine 12 in a 27.5 shell? Thanks!

Anyone have a slightly "used" set of Speedmachine 12's available? Size 27.5? I can't find any retailers with any left.

Not sure how much you want to spend. Here are three sites that have them in stock. (The last only has 27.0 in stock.)

http://store.christysports.com/catal...e_12_ski_boots

PS - I went through the same search for some 28.5s to replace my Beasts. The 14 was too stiff. The 10 was too soft plus it wasn't as plush. I ended up finding another pair of Beasts.

Thanks for the links!

Beast 12's I'm assuming... how do you like the Beasts in really COLD weather? I don't want full race but I do want a high performance boot. I haven't had a chance to demo the Beast. I've heard they are very comfortable. I'm of the old mindset that a really warm and comfortable ski boot isn't capable of performing to my expectations. Technology advances, I don't. Guess I'm a ski tech Luddite. Except shaped skis. That I adopted right away.

I don't think I'd be happy with the Speedmachine 14's - too stiff for what I do. I'm considering the Speedmachine 12 in a size 28.0. My right foot measures out to around 11-3/8" in length. The left is ever so slightly shorter. I'd rather have one boot with a little too much room than one with not enough. So the new size I'm seeking is a 28.0. Plus the fact that I can't find a 27.5 in the Speedmachine 12.

No, I found a pair of original Beasts from the previous season. The Beast 12 has about the same flex as the Speedmachine 10 while the original Beast has the same flex as the SM 12. I love the Beasts in real cold weather. My feet stay warmer than any boot I've had before (and apparently warmer than my friends who have to go in to warm their feet more often.)
