Gonna ski A-Basin again Friday. I was there last Friday and there was still alot of snow.

well, after what i thought was my last ski trip 1st weekend of may, i'm still debating if its over. got plenty of work and deadlines; but with all the snow left; i may just have to bust a nut; get it all done early and head for the hill one last time.
its a long way back around to november.

I'll take a guess. Based on the past few years, I'd guess that Pallavicini and East Wall will be closed, and possibly they'll have much of the East Gully/West Gully area closed as well. If there's a large warm spell before then, they might be down to a single "ribbon of death" leading from Lenawee Face through Dercum's Gulch, but there's lots of snow now, so there will probably be a lot of runs still open.

The Exhibition lift and at least one run (Sundance) will also be open to allow access to the upper mountain, but not worth doing laps on.

Another possibility is that they'll close down the Lenawee lift and just have Norway open to the top. I recall this happened two years ago late in May. Due to last year's fatal avalanche on Pallavicini (after several very warm days in late May) plus a late-May snow-immersion death near East Gully two years ago, I expect them to be conservative about closures this year.

The A-Basin website says that Pallavicini will close this weekend.

I broke my wrist skiing there on ice , skiing fast and hit a ice block kicked up by a moron running a snowcat right up the middle of the run. I hit one and as iwas recovering i hit another and still remember the colors splashing into my brain everytime i hit as i rolled down the hill .I have never fallen so hard. Didn't knock me out but it seemed close.
I skiied Alpental a couple weekends ago and it was alot of fun. This leaves Whistler and MT Hood as last resorts in the PNW

Check out www.hyak.net and keep up with what is going on at Hyak. I rode down under the Dino chair a few days ago. Still plenty of snow to ride just below the Keechelus lift but its patchy beyond that.

Booth Creek owns all the Snoqualmie resorts now. Hyak is scheduled to get a HS Quad in the next year or 2 that will replace the Dino chair (mixed feelings with the locals on that move).

Later...

Skied Whistler Friday the 12th. Cool temps, blowing and snowing, sunshine, clouds and yeah, powder. I hope to get back up the 21st. After that a trip or two to Timberline. Some day I need to get back country gear.
I can't imagine living somewhere without access to nearly year round skiing.

Today at A-Basin- sunshine, warm temperature, great spring corn; unfortunately the East Wall was closed for the day.
