Loveland BBQ 4/22/06

There has been some interest in holding a lunch time BBQ in the Parking Lot at Loveland. It was quite a success last year.

We will only hold it if 14 or more sign up here.....NO LATER than tuesday 4/18/06, so we can get an accurate count.

Here is how it works....bong has graciously offered to pick up hamburgers and rolls. We would need to cover his cost. Last year everybody tossed $ 5.00 in the hat and that pretty much covered the burgers and a few beers.

Past that everybody just bring something easy.

So add your name to the thread and include what you plan to bring.

klkaye - cookies and brownies, water

if it's a nice sunny day we'll actually need a fair amount of water and/or sports drinks.

is this a BYOB event?

other items that we'll need:
- paper goods (napkins, plates, cups, utensils)
- condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish if we do hot dogs)
- fixins (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles)
- other "salads"
- any snack items
- MUSIC!

I found out that we can use the grills at any of the three cabins on the hill at Loveland. We have to get the stuff up there ourselves though. Does someone want to bring a grill? Tom won't be here to put one in his truck this year.

I'll be there. Put me down for plastic plates, utensils, and cups (and maybe a surprise food thing).

bruce ... I heard about those cabins -- are they for rent? or, can we use them for free?
We can rent if we want exclusive use of a cabin, $100.00 if I recall. We can use any of the three for free, first come first served on the grills and decks. We have to carry our stuff up ourselves and cleanup would be appreciated by the area.

Bring your own refreshments!!

OK folks, we need to get some more participation or this ship isn't going to launch. Can we at least get a dozen bears & friends of bears to attend this final "Epic Blowout"?

Sorry Folks.....due to lack of interest the BBQ at Loveland is .....
CANCELLED......
Last year at loveland a ton of people turned up, people who we didn't even know were planning on coming. that said, it was a big "word of mouth" endeavor.

people may not be watching epicski that closely this time of year, or may be unaware of the new thread.

Just to confirm: we're still on for skiing Loveland on Saturday, just not the BBQ?
This Saturday 4/22 is the Loveland Corn Harvest party/Colorado Avalanche Information Center fundraiser. There will be plenty of fun to had for a good cause even if the Bears' BBQ doesn't pan out. Food, music, beer, schwag.

I missed post this yesterday. My wife and I will be there for skiing at least. I usually work Saturdays, but took it off to see some more Bears. (Should we use the Lyle Lovett song as our themesong?). I will see you all there. LewBob

Thanks DJ.....that may cover us.

Again...the skiing part is on....the BBQ was just to tough to work out with such small numbers. bong needed to know now to decide how many burgers to get before he returned from Denver...and we had issues with the grill this year.....possible cabin rental etc etc....

If there had been more than a dozen that signed up it would have made things easier.

I'd say we buy some stuff from the vendors and support the Avi Info fundraiser....
