Interesting information. Thanks for the post. Soon BlueMountain pa will be on the shorstest 6 passenger list I would imagine, as they are installing one for next season and thats really a little hill.
If you have the vertical rise of each, that would be interesting.

I love the Silver Queen Gondola, but the Two Creeks Quad is flat.

Boy some people are never happy, they always want more.

The Slide Brook express gives you maybe four or five hundred feet of vert going from north to south (that's an estimate). Doesn't the Silver Mt gondola get you from the parking lot to the base?

Feet of skiable vert would be a much more interesting (imho) stat.

Vertical of the slide brook express is almost nothing. I believe it goes downward at times...It connects two seperate peaks at sugarbush which are seperated by a gulley type thinger. Similar to the sojourn double at mountain creek which goes about a mile or so through nothing but woods connecting south peak to granite peak. I'd like to know the longest non high speed lifts out there. How long can a lift ride possibly be?
Where did you get that info? Wintergreen, VA has two detachable 6-packs and a vert of about 1000ft but I can't find info on the length of the lifts.
Two 6packs in VA? Wow I never knew...Didn't think there was enough of a demand for skiing down there to warrant it. Very interesting. Blue also has a 1000 foot vertical so I'm sure their new sixer will be comparable in length
post #9 of 22
The slidebrook should be one of the fastest.

It only runs slow on MLK weekend. You know the coldest weekend of winter.

I have riden it twice, but only in nice weather, I'm not stupid you know.

I don't know the answer to this, but I'll throw out a really long chair ride: The Burfield chair at Sun Peaks in B.C. The thing is very long and it just crawls along at an unbelievably slow pace. It hangs you out on a ridge with the wind howling for what seems like an hour. Great skiing from the top, but you pay for it.

Wintergreen is an absolute madhouse. The wife and I took the kids the day after Christmas in 2004, and stood in line at the 6-pack for at least 45 min each time. Got there at 10am, ate lunch for about 45 min (we only stop when we ski with the kids) and left at about 3pm. We got 7 runs in on that 1000ft.

Yes, it gets busy.

I also wondered about their lifts -- the Blue Ridge Express 6-pack has got to be one of the shortest. The vert is no more than 500 feet on that one.

I think it's a mistake to go there on weekends or holidays -- too crowded and the lines are nuts. On the other hand, I ski there regularly mid-week, when there are no lines and usually less than 100 people on the whole mountain. It's like a private ski club! On the Highlands (1000ft vert) I can easily get 30-40 runs in a day. If I do ski on a weekend, the Western Territory chair at Snowshoe is my favorite. Rarely crowded and the 1500ft vert over 1.5 miles is not too shabby either.

Jiminy Peak's 6 pack is 1000' vertical and it has only a short run out. It would make the top ten on the short list.

Been a coupla years since I was there. Is that one that goes from the parking lot to Mountain Village?

(Remember, the gondola is also used as part of tride/mountain village's transit system)
