I just sort of stumbled over this on the internet. Its the SIA internet newsletter. SIA reports thatLaCroix is indeed coming back
this season in the USA . The family owned ski company will have its skis manufactured in Slovenia by Elan.
Another earlier SIA article reports the demise of the following companies.
LaCroix (now resurected)
The article written in July of this year states that in the USA five brands control about 75% of the market: Rossingnol, Salomon, K2, Volkl and Atomic. The remaider is shared by Volant, Dynastar, Elan, Nordica, Olin, the remaining Austrian factories (Fischer, Head, Blizzard and Kneissl) and a few "boutique" brands Stockli, Wolf, Evolution, Line, Claw.
Sometimes it's possible to forget that the USA is not the biggest ski market.
Japan and Europe are significantly larger. Some small brands in the USA have a significantly bigger market share elsewhere.
