Head Mojo 90 in 186cm or 193cm

Hello, I am hoping you all can provide some input for my ski "dilemma". I am a 6'6", 200lb male. I ski around level 8-9. I recently demoed some head mad trix mojo, 186cm. I loved them. They were just the thing for Utah powder. So I want to get the newer version, the Mojo 90, which is almost the exact same ski (1mm slimmer all around), but I can get a reasonably better deal on a set that is 193cm vice the 186cm. Now this is only an extra 7cm and I don't personally think that this is such a big deal but after reading some other threads on lengths of these fatties I am not sure. These would be exclusively for steep and deep (some back country) and my personal favorite, tree skiing in Utah. I ride fairly aggressively and had absolutely no problems with the 186s. Any thoughts on the longer version as opposed to the 186s?

I really don't think you will have much of a problem moving up to a little longer ski. The first thing to remember is that the actual running length of a twin is much shorter than the overall lenth of the ski. My 188's have a running length of approxiamatley 179. You can already ski, (Level 8/9) at a very competent level the added length will probably not change your mechanics greatly. A possilble added bonus is that the extra weight would be better to bust through crud and mash potatoe snow (though I know you see very little of it in Utah). If you really want the shorter ski go for it as it is always better to spend more than you wanted and be happy than spend nearly as much and be miserable.

go 193
Im 165 and went with a 176 and felt sometimes I should have gone longer when im skiing big open areas with deep powder, but forget about that crazy notion when im in the trees and bumps.

also Ive seen some new mojo90 193s online for pretty reasonable...350-400 if I remember

The mojos do ski short. Another consideration would be to mount them back about 2-4cm. The boot sole mark is quite forward. I have mine mounted at the mark and wish it was further back.

Yeah mount them at least 2cm/3cm back, they are marked for jib riding so unless you like to land switch alot it is way too much tail. And measure from the tail alot of skis are being pressed with the mounting lines off.

Strangely enough that was what my local ski aficionado told me to do. He recommended 3-4cm. By the way, picked them up yesterday and am getting bindings and mounted tomorrow. Finally I will have some new skis. Those old 92 vintage skis require retirement. Thanks again for the input guys.

So did you go with the 193s?

I sure did. Unfortunately, the shop that mounted my bindigs botched the job and mounted one ski way off center, so they are in the process of finding me new skis. Very disappointing, especially considering how good the snow is right now!
