So I thought I would start this thread to allow fellow Bears to express themselves about their favorite things about Alta. This could be general, but it could also be pretty specific (a favorite run or menu item). Also don't hesitate to add something that has already been said if you have a new take (we'll be expecting lots of variations on snow and terrain here). Perhaps, if we are lucky, someone from management will read the post and make sure that the pace of change is gradual, keeping the things that we love most sacred.
I will start everyone off with my top five, and then hope that others will add their own favorites:
1) The Snow.
2) The Setting.
While there are other resorts that have good powder, when it is right and it is thigh high, nothing compares.
3) Lift Assisted, as opposed to Lift Served skiing.
The devil's castle is my cathedral, in its shadow I shall not want.
4) Neither McMall nor McVillage at the base.
Pant, pant, pant, need I say more...
5) Copius Free Parking right next to the lifts.
While a particular issue for some here like Vlad, I think we all like this.
So there's my first five, let's hear what others have to say...
This makes it really easy to make quick gear changes during the day, and also easy to make a quick get away to the airport. $ 16 a day to park at Vail is just offensive.
