I did, and have been going for the last 10 years. Although I'm a skier, I love what it brings to the mountain and I love to see the riders. My friend went up the lift with Hannah Teeter.

Anyone else go?

I went, I saw the men's finals. It was pretty amazing to be about 12 feet away from olypic gold medists and all the free stuff was great.

I was there (freezing my tail off) on Friday night. We stayed through the awards ceremony for the Quarterpipe comp, then left. We had planned on staying for the CKY show, but it was just too cold at that point.

The amount of snow they moved for that event was incredible, eh?

Yes, amount of snow is unbelievable. Both the quarterpipe and superpipe were GIGANTIC. No wonder they get tons of awards for snowmaking and terrain parks...

It was freezing Friday Night. I watched the CKY and The Hot Hot Heat show for a little while. Amazing those bands will play such little crowds.

LOL. I don't think Stratton has the terrain for that.

???
I was serious.
i raced in several US Open Super-Gs and DHes,
being a ski-wearing spectator at the '87 open DH got me hooked, immediately, watching dog coghlin et al.
North American was the usual trail of choice.

Oh, my apologies. Well, they don't have any racing events anymore. Apparently it's all freestyle...halfpipe, quarterpipe, slopestyle etc...

I know, I would actually love to see some alpine snowboards at the open...

i was watching it on tv. So no more racing events at the US open at all? thats weird. I'm an alpine rider and I love watching the style of others. Boarder X will probably start getting more play now because of the olympics. Rock on hardbooters!

We stayed and watched the practice for a while. I don't know who had the number 1 bib, but while we were on the side of the pipe watching, he walked by us. I said, "Hey, you're Number 1!" He smiled and said Yep!

About an hour later we were down by the free tents, and he went by on a patrol sled. Out of the competition. Anyone know who he was?

guess he really wasn't number one after all. I wish my mountain had a decent half pipe. Usually the transition is all boxed out and its super icy. Its pretty much a big block of ice that happens to have a half pipe in it. I know they're trying hard to make it, but conditions were never right this year.
