Any eastern trails NOT open this season? - Page 2

I dont care, its nice to have places like magic and burke that noone skis but have fun terrain. You made a sarcastic comment about magic being open for the past 8 years. While I got your sarcasm I think lots of people in the general public hear that stuff lots and ignore the mountain completely. They would rather pay 80 to ski Stratton than 30 to ski magic.

??? dude- that was not sarcasm. don't presume. as i've said, i have not followed american skiing for the past 7 years, save for a little time at tahoe, on foot, last year, and a bit of snow time at mountain crick, this year.
i've also stated, on this thread, that i liked magic and that some great snowboarders came from there. hell, i stated that worked there for a short time in the mid 80s, on another thread. always liked magic, a lot.
magic and snow valley.

Does anyone know whether Magic just got sold again? I think I heard some guy in CT and a bunch of investors just purchased it.

I had already gone to their website to check and it's only got the home page with a picture, no links and no information. Can't remember where I read it. I'll have to check.

Just thought one of the Magic fans would know...

Wind power sucks.

What's the lawyer's phone number. I'd like to speak to him about not #u@#ing the place up. Keep the bulldozers away from the natural terrain.

The Fiddle was amazing on March 10th also. It was the first time I ever skied it when it was officially open, I've skied it half a dozen times previously when I ducked the rope.
Anapurna at Hunter never opened this season, they wasted snowmaking on Westway instead....

Just curious about why you think wind power sucks?

Put road in to the top of the mountain, put a chain link fence up and then lock it. There have been times when the road was not locked and it quickly becomes an off road play ground.

They put aircraft lighting on top - in the wilderness.

They clear large amounts of mountain top wilderness. They will be seen up and down the ridges of Vermont in the near future (years).

The real reason: I love the Green Mountains. It's bad enough that the ski areas have been cut. For the most part that aspect of skiing has be stopped. Let's not start with wind towers. They can go in a farmer's field or in the ocean or in a city - not in the wilderness.

It needs to be stopped now because once they go up they are there to stay.

Yeah! That's the spirit! Put some coal burning power plants in there!!
I heard that argument a few times. I am not willing to destroy the Green Mountains or any mountains for that matter. I do not like wind power.

He already said that he doesn't like them because it subtracts from the rustic setting. I'm pretty sure no one on here would want a coal plant on top of a mountain.

OK, I see where you're coming from. I agree with you - I'd rather not see towers on ridgetops either. I think we're bound to see an increase in some of these cleaner power technologies in our lifetimes, and it would be good to get it right the first time (ie. don't clearcut ridge tops for towers). A few years ago, saw a cluster of the towers while taking a train through the German countryside (pretty much in a field). Didn't really take away from the aesthetic, so I do think it's possible to do it without invading a wildeness environment.

Many Green Mountain resorts are home to Pergerine Falcons, whom are known to fly through (emerging in composite chunks, immed. afterward) wind-power mills, as well. this would be a huge problem in selling these windmills to vermonsters.
