remember- there is much you can do to increase the support muscles around the knee, often folks with partial ACL trauma come away from PT stronger than they were before the ACL injury.
give it a chance with PT, firts. we all tend to rush into surgery too quickly.
I've had 9 knee surgeries, and if I could live it over again, i'd probably forego a few of them.

i had a long convesation with him atop the halfpipe at the olympic qualifiers, and he seems to be the best bet in the states for reconstruction, esp. for skiers.
