ESA 2007 AspenSnowmass

Hey folks!

Hope everybody's season is winding down gracefully. Ours isn't. We're getting pummeled with snow!

I just want to run some ideas by you all, and get your reaction.

Anyone mind if I bring in Deb Armstrong and Kim Reichhelm? They seem to be keen to come. I know their credentials are only as long as both of my arms, and I know they are only genius teachers, but what the hell?

Is that cool or what?

We'll have a formal list fairly soon, but I thought you'd like a few pearls in case some of you are not sure you want to come.

Who are Deb Armstrong and Kim Reichhelm?!!!??? Go google yourself!

Yeah... I guess that'd be OK.
can they ski?
Well........... OK
C'mon. Deb is on the D Team, so she can't know how to really carve. And Kim? I seem to remember her hitting a tree. Or something like that.

Awesome, Weems, just freakin' awesome!

You're right. So how about if I throw in Nick Herrin and Mike Rogan? They don't ski like girls, but they don't ski too badly.

Yeah, but the tree hardly slowed her down at all...

Weems, it was nice meeting you at Highlands last week (Elaine G. introduced us) -- I may have mentionned to Megan Harvey that she pester you about getting involved...

awesome crew, and my wife and I are looking forward to it already.

Deb gives great lessons, beyond being a great skier. I was in her group on the Wednesday afternoon at Sno Pro Jam. What is amazing is how quickly she addresses each learning style, as well as how succinctly she makes her points. of course she has a great eye, and great sense of what activities will help with skiing.

Bob, I'm on my knees begging Megan to join us.

Yeah, Fog, that's the point of the type of coach we're trying to attract. We're looking for people who are known primarily for the teaching/interacting skills--master teachers, and we are also fortunate to have these master teachers in bodies that ski really well.

Megan's in.

Didn't take much begging. She's really pleased to join the staff.

That's Megan Harvey, folks. One of the finer ski instructors I've ever met. She's another one of those who are really well known for a reason.

Better 'n' better. Wow, Weems. We're gonna need a hundred students to really get the best of all of these coaches!
So . . . if Rogan will be there, how about his sidekick, Robin Barnes?
Weems,

You are determined to make this impossible to pass up, huh?

It is working !!!

Robin was a great coach at Stowe '05, ... I was thinking the same thing.

I'm also a big fan of Robin's. I'll see what I can do. I've written Mike and told him that I'm rescinding his invitation in favor of Robin's.

All of this, of course depends on how many participants we have, so pass the word!

Deb was one of our examiners when I took my L1 a few seasons ago; really twisting my arm on this one.

Nick, again? And Mike, too? Geez, aren't these guys getting old-hat?

I can't wait!
Wow, if Nick and Mike are there I might swing by...
I'll start saving pennies as well. That is an uncommon chance.
weems is no fool ... for too long the coach list has been all/mostly men. weems is just bringing on the ladies.
Wow, this line-up sounds amazing. Great stuff Weems!

Thanks y'all. I like the ladies! I really think that women coaches do such a wonderful job. And that having a balance of men and women in a coaching camp is critical to the attitude and effectiveness of the camp.

By the way, Ursula Howland from Big Sky wants to return and coach with us. I think that's a really good idea, don't you? And Nolo, too. (duh! of course)

Ed, that is exactly the way to expand the budget. I just went out to buy a $10 G motorcycle and came home with a Beemer big enough to carry my pickup truck on the back.

eggsactly! My wife sent me out for a carton of milk. I couldn't find the right kind until I found a little store somewhere out in the Utah canyons. "Sure honey, see ya Thursday."

As long as she doesn't see it parked at the Woody Creek Tavern you can sell that story.

Tavern and riding: bad idea.

I lost one of my keys this morning so I went all over Castle Creek Valley, up the Frying Pan, and up McClure Pass. Wouldn't you know it....it was in my desk all the time.
