as always, good point.
waaaay back when i was last involved in psia, clinics dealt, deeply, with the 'hows' as oposed to the textbook 'whys'
as philsthrills has (also astutely ) pointed out, the afct of my non-participation in any aasi clinic, ever, hamstrings my creds on that.
what I AM troubled by, however, are aasi-certs teaching really, really poor lessons, and overlooking many of the basic tenets of the 'hows'.
i will own that being aasi is still very , very young, and is experiencing the far reaction o f the pendulum paradigm at this point in time.
in a few years, i suspect, aasi will have figured out, collectively, much of what they're missing.
when snowboarding began taking off, psia honchos swore that the association would never acknowledge snowboarding...
of course, when snowboarding "showed them the money", they bought in. big.
i remember all of us psia vets in the snowboard community being very, very 'ascaired', and shivgering at the portent of psia '*&^&^%ing boarding up, now. of course, they began with the ski model, which the snowboardpublic eschewed...
eschewed with extreme prejudice,
and so the psia facelifted themselves into 'aasi'.
(??? how about a more literal acronym, or something with some "ooppmmhhh" ?)
so, anyway, we now have aasi, whom, with the best of intentions, (that is, when they're not busy being burton snowboard corporation's bee-hotch), who are compensating for the rigid, wooden, psia-sb of yore, by running with their 'anything goes' policy, and pumping out volumes of training manuals with little bang for the palimpsest buck.
the pendulum will swing back to center (no WAY the association will last in it's present iteration), and likely, then, blow out some kickass product.
I honestly expect good things, in the future, from the cocoon which we call 'aasi'
