as i'd stated on another thread, my girlfriend and i have been having absolutely excellent days at little "Mt. Peter" in Warwick, NY ( mt.peter.com ), just an hour out of manhattan.
They had increased their snowmaking pressure by double, this past year, and so they blew a far deeper base than other resorts in the mid-hudson.
we were absolutely astonished at the base, the snow quality, the grooming, and the fact that for two days in a row (10 am- 3pm) we had the place pretty much to ourselves.
they have beautiful intermediate, beginner and expert terrain, they just aren't really big.
also, being that mountain creek has become, primarily, a snowboard park, mt. peter didn't put in their terrain park, this season, but rather welcomed displaced skiers and snowboarders who don't relish the hideous roar of their snow being scraped away into ice by beginner boarders, which make up about 65 % of mountain creek's onhill population at any given time.
while mt. creek south closes the day after tomorrow, and 'north' the following weekend, and they stopped snowmaking in february, mt. peter's management intends to blow snow on every cold night (and all next week will be cold enough, at night) and stay open into april.
See you there, i'm easy to find
