Where are some good sources for deals on spring skiing out West? I'm trying to get a jump start on next year.

Try Breckenridge's web site. We booked a "HUGE" 6 Bedroom 6 Bathroom home with all amenities in the mountains about a mile and a half from town. There are 12 of us going and 8 are skiing. 4 nights lodging and four days lift tics for each the 8 skiing was $2200 total package price! You can't beat it.

www.slidingonthecheap.com is always good for deals.

Taos offers 50% off lifts and lodging the last week, March 27 thru April 2. Adults $28, teens & kids less. Our in town lodging starts at $32 single.

Cheapest thing I've found at the moment was off of Orbitz, checking the "air+hotel+rental car" option. April 2-6, from Cincinnati to SLC, 2 people, for $1050. The real kicker is, those are direct Delta flights, arriving SLC @ 10:30AM, and departing @ 5:30PM; permitting skiing on both arrival and departure days.

Fark, I just checked it, and the prices have increased $200. Should have booked yesterday. Story of my life.

A quick revision, tried Expedia, and found the similar deal, staying at the Midvale La Quinta, and a mid-sized rental car, for $1150 total for 2.

Rent a condo from an owner like on VRBO. That is what we are doing April 2-7. One bedroom in Park City under $100/night. Got cheap lift tickets from a contact and a Priceline rental car.

Hasn't the snowfall total been dissappointing this year at Taos? Just curious. I was checking out the Taos Ski Week for the week you mentioned but was worried about the lack of snow and closed runs.

Disappointing is the understatement! Last year at this time we had 15" per week for the year to date. This year you haven't heard nor seen me. It is finally brag time with 17" last 24 hours and 42" in 5 days. Looks like we will have a spring break!

Pray for more!

We are doing the same trip (March 28th- April 4th) for the same price but we purchased air, lodging and car individually. Instead of a cheap motel/hotel in Midvale, we were able to afford a nice B&B for the same price. Depending who you are going with, that might be a nicer option. my two cents.

I dug around quite a bit, but the cheapest for non-stop airfare alone, out of Cincinnati, was $425, at last check. There were cheaper options on two and three leggers, or if I left out of Columbus, OH or Louisville, KY, but as booked, I can ski both on my arrival and departure days. That alone is worth a bit extra on the airfares. It's both a blessing and a curse having Cincinnati as a Delta hub.

Besides, it is just my 10 yo son, and myself. Believe me, this will be a memorable excursion, no matter where we shack up. From what I've read, I don't think the Midvale, La Quinta is going to be too rough. They even show an indoor pool and sauna, which is all I need to end my day.

As for myself, I'm estatic that my ski season won't be ending with the closure of my favored midwestern molehill. Due to financial concerns, I haven't been west in three years, and would even be happy sleeping in the car in the Alta parking lot.
