I went to a local dry cleaner who has a seamstress working there. I removed the buckle at the back of the strap (it comes off easily) and had the seamstress cut the goggle strap in the center and then add about 3 inches of VELCRO closure to it on both ends.
Now my goggles can be adjusted any way I like and never come off! If I want them tight or loose I just move the straps forward or backward on the Velcro
cost about $5 for this fix and I never have goggle fit problems any more
once of these days the goggle companies will get smart and add a Velcro closure to their goggles but until then....

As to commercialism, hook and loop closures tend to get skunked-up fairly quickly especially around things like "fleece". Keep both sides clean with a short-tined comb. Billabong used to supply a tethered comb along with their beach shorts for just this reason.
