When I see postings about Flexons, I know this must be a great forum...so I registered. Hello to everyone.
In a nutshell, Raichle Flexons are legendary, up there with the original Gran Prix boots. But, like any boot, if they don't fit, they won't be *the boots* for you.
For me, they're great. Every two years or so, I buy a new pair of boots, but by mid-season, I'm back in my Raichles. The high cuff, powerful rear spoiler, excellent heel retention, etc. are all great. The flex, however, is the best thing about them.
They are wide in the forefoot, but have less rom over the instep. If you need that, get Technicas. The heel pocket is small, relative to the forefoot, and the ankle fits closely, even before buckling in. My Flexons still have ther original ceramic fit liner they came with--never needed to replace with a thermo-fit liner.
Standing around in them, you might think that the flex is too soft. Ski in them, and you won't think about the flex at all...you'll be edging and turning. And they won't kill your shins.
I will probably buy some Kryptons next year, but I haven't heard too many accounts of whether or not they ski like the Flexons. A couple guys I know have them, but they didn't ski Flexons before. They were just jealous of mine
But, I know one of these days the flimsy ratcheting buckles will give out. Anyone have some junked Flexons they'd want to sell for parts?
