Lake Tahoe – Which resort on a busy powder weekend?

Which resort is not too busy or at least the lift lines are not a nightmare?

homewood, diamond peak, mt rose.
having said that - i typically go to squaw, sugarbowl or alpine on a powder day. the lift lines are manageable.

I'd suggest Northstar. The lift lines will be crazy but ... Get there early and get to the 'expert' runs first thing and there will be plenty of powder and few folks skiing it. As the day progresses the tree skiing takes over with few skiers taking advantage. Meanwhile at the more main stream, non resort, hills folks are going crazy destroying the powder all over the place.

So bad lift lines, good powder skiing. The alternative is trashed powder and maybe better lift lines :

Tahoe-Busy weekend

I worked at Homewood for 1 winter as instructor. They have the shortest liftlines at Tahoe-Period and some pretty good powder skiing and wind protected. The other sleeper is Diamond Peak, yeah everyone laughs just a little family area However you can ski good powder till noon or l pm, start in the obivous places and finish in the trees. The whole side of the mt. has trees that are spaced almost just right for powder skiing and unlike Squaw etc. the ski patrol etc. won't carve it all up before you can get there.

Looks like not an easy decision. What about Kirkwood? They got 30” in 48h and 60” total.
