I was in Austria two weeks ago, and they had the 2007 Allstar for rent or sale. Also the Atomic GS12 and a new (to me) Atomic ski, the "Race Premium", plus a bunch of others, a wider RX9 from Fischer, others...

Did anyone actually ski the new allstar? Is it any different than this years?

it has more more metal inside, so it must have a different feel

I skied the new Allstar (the rental shop had only next year's, go figure). I also flexed this year's and next year's in another shop. They are very, very similar, next year model has a slightly softer tip.

Seeing how i don't quite know everything about ski technology...what does a
"softer tip" mean?
It means it takes less force to bend the front part of the ski so it is easier to initiate turns, absorb bumps or float in soft snow. A stiffer tip will be more stable at speed and grippier on ice. The difference between this and next year's is v.small, a minor tweak to get a more balanced ski.

Brett, or anybody

Have you skied the 2006 and 2007 AC4?

I have only skied the 2006 model and would like some imput on the 2007 model?

Thanks for your help!

psy,(or anyone else that can help)

What other impressions did u have about next years allstar? I am seriously considering getting a pair when they become available here. Do they have the same rebound energy as this years? What about skiability? I am a strong intermediate about 160lbs. I know one concern of mine was how they made your legs burn after a few runs. I have heard arguments verifying and negating that argument. What did you think? Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks for the help!

Legs burn after a few runs? Rubbish! I'm sixty-four years old, out of shape, a mediocre skier at best. The All Stars are what the doctor ordered.

The graphics aren't great. The grungey flaming stars on the 06 are much cooler. Maybe the SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION in black will have more presence.

Gotta agree with oboe...

The Allstar is not a lot of work to ski in the correct length. Probably one of the easier rides in the top of the line. Not sure I would recommend the Allstar to an upper intermediate skier... I think there are better skis for that catagory. The Allstar is definitely a ski that needs a knowledgeable pilot IMO. However, I don't think they would hurt you either.

My legs definitely burn more with my other skis.

Good luck!
