Which skis to demo?

I've finally decided to retire my K2 Axis X (174's) they are a bit beat up, and well I'm ready for some new skis. But first a bit about myself.

I'm 6'4" 265lbs 31 years old
I'd say I'm around a level 7 or 8 depending on which scale, strong to advanced intermediate. I tend to like the blue cruisers, and some steeper blues. Not a huge fan of going super fast since my wife can't keep up or is that she isn't a fan of me going super fast.
We ski mostly at Attitash, Sunday River and Wildcat but are thinking of taking a trip out west next year. In general I prefer the packed powder, or if we can get a few inches of powder thats nice too, of course not a huge fan of the ice.

I've been thinking of the Volkl AC3 but length is the question, I have a pair of Axis X's at 181 and honestly I find I'm not a fan of them, if I didn't get a good deal on that pair I'd be really upset. So needless to say I'd lean towards 170 on the AC3 before the 177.

The other two I've considered is the 5* or the super* at 175. The reason I even consider the superstar is a few folks have said my weight would kill the 5*. My fear with the these two is perhaps a little too much ski for me.

Needless to say, I'm heading up to Sugarloaf this weekend and I know they demo both the 5* and the AC3 so I'm wondering if I should bother with the 170 or not on the AC3 and if I should bother with the 5* if it wouldn't hold up to my weight.

Another ski that someone mentioned was the z5 or the z9, but I've seen mixed reviews of those two. But any suggestions let me know..

At 6', 205, I bought the AC3 at 177 and it's fine. I certainly could have gone to the 170 but, at your size, I wouldn't even think about it. I skied the 5 Stars but, for me, I didn't like it as much for an every day only pair of skis. You should try it though. A lot of folks love it.

I am similar in weight, but shorter than you. I tried the z5 oversise and liked it. It was on my short list of compatible skis. You may want to try the z9, as it is a stiffer ski and you are a more advanced skier than I. Also the the metrons. I tried the m10 and loved it. I am going to see if i can try a B:5 this weekend. I also liked the Head xrc 1100.
