man, you are wilfully ignoring reality Clayton!
Let's try this again. I have never questioned the fact that there is more C02 in our atmosphere and that it got there in large part due to man's activities. I do question the presumed causal link to "global warming".
If the warming we have experienced is completely within normal levels based on historical records, how could I?
We have experienced a surface temperature chaneg of .6 degress in 100 years. Temperature changes far in excess of this have happened MANY times according to the geological record in the last 30,000 years, prior to industrialization. There is NO evidence to conclusively indicate that the slight warming we are experiencing is caused by increased C02 in the atmosphere. Upper atmospheric temperatures have NOT increased. Many parts of the globe have actually cooled in the last 30 years.
I don't dispute that we have affected the atmosphere through the use of fossil fuels. I dispute that this will inevitable lead to long term global warming at all.
As for your box analogy, If your box had an almost infinitely complex weather system, ice caps, clouds, rivers and oceans then I might accept your analogy. As it stands, no I don't agree. By the way, the earth is not a closed system as evidenced by meteorites that likely caused massive waether disruptions and caused mss extinction through temperature disruption.
Want to disagree, great. But allow me the same courtesy without the insults if possible.
