Look closely at this chart. This is time measured in 100,000 year segments. Humans have been collecting meaningful climate data for what, 25 years? Notice also on this chart the reference to the "Youger Dryas", a period during which temperatures are believed to have risen as much as 15 degress in 10 years
..... Happened 12,000 years ago.
I keep reading that "the earth has warmed at a rate unprecedented since recording began". Seems they discount other data they have that shows conclusively that the earth has warmed at much faster rates without human intervention in the past.
Scientists are currently flipping out because the earth's average temperature has risen by 1.5 degrees in the last 100 years. During the "Younger Dryas" the earth's temperature increased at a rate 10 times faster than is happening now. Don't believe it, do your own Internet search.
Look at the chart! the earth has it's own natural cycles as is clearly evident. We are reaching the peak of a 100,000 year warming cycle.
Are you aware that many scientists actually believe that global cooling will be the real result of greenhouse gases? Just because I don't swallow everything dished out by Greenpeace doesn't mean my opinion is worthless.
Anybody ever wonder what happens when 1/3 of the earth's ice is replaced by vegation? It happened not too long ago at the end of the last ice age. Anybody ever think that maybe global warming might be helped along by massive deforestation?http://www.koshland-science-museum.o...storical02.gifLook at the chart again. Notice that spikes in CO2 have correlated very closely with temperature during past warming cycles. The only thing different about this current warming spike is that C02 is higher respectively than temperature. Note that C02 levels have been HIGHER during past natural warming cycles.
Use your noggins.
I am not saying that humanity is not causing global warming because in my opinion we don't have enough data to understand what in the heck is going on. Obviously, pollution of any kind is a negative by definition. I am
saying that I believe we are just as likley to find the earth cooling down as warming up based on mankind's current understanding of climate.
I think it's great that you guys are so tolerant of other people's opinions by the way.
