On New Year's Day, I saw a guy with an Ohio State hat at Solitude Nordic. I asked him if "we" were going to beat Notre Dame and he said yes.
(My parents graduated from OSU and I lived in Columbus when I was a kid)
Even though I live in Utah, I am too poor to ski at Deer Valley and Snowbasin is too far compared to Alta & Brighton.
But have you considered Park City?
At Park City, with the free bus system, the whole town can be your lodge and you can meet her for lunch someplace near the Town Lift.
Here's another thought:
Brighton has a crappy lodge, but here's a thought.
It has a $65 "Learn to ski/learn to board" program which includes the beginner lifts, equipment and a lesson. Or she could try snowshoeing or cross country at Solitude Nordic.
