actually, ant, no meno. no axes to grind, either. my posts have been very positive and upbeat, until one surly member decided to call me a liar.
think vlad's a meno? hell- i met barking bear 'marta' yesterday, she can corroborate with a senior patroller (alpine boarder) , at her resort, my background- one of her fellow mountain rangers worked for me in my snowboard school when intrawest was purchasing the resort. many of the folks from my original home-hill made the pilgrimage to the us open each season to welcome me back to the states and watch me race. contact the GM (ed youmans) of diamond peak at incline, nevada- he used to attend the us open with a group of his staffers from great gorge to see me run, i also taught him alpine riding.
marta would have no problem tracking down the austrian certs (long since retired from teaching at the resort) at MC south, from the original austrian arlberg school of the 60s, who knew, taight with, and raced with my dad. I had cocoa and reminiscences with several of the 'elde gang' yesterday.
I first met barking bear 'jeff bergeron' the first season he put skis on his feet, and within two seasons he and i were teaching and bumming together at a few schools.
i also met barking bear 'njskibabe' last week as she was suiting up for a super-g in MC's raceroom. she can confirm that i exist, at least.
epic's 'billA' heard, through his ski school supervisor, that i was looking him up on the mountain; indeed, Bill A can corroborate, through one of the three old-timers still at his school (including "Fred", who wears the gold "PSIA-40 YEAR Member" pin), Rick S., and Lee S., all whom worked for my father in the 60s-early 70s, and my mom in the 70s-early 90s, that I am, in fact, who i say i am. they've known me since i was a snot-nosed tyke.
now I'm merely a snot-nosed 43 year-old. There's a cool plaque in my dad's memory (citing his SS directorship and race team directorship), on a huge rock under the flagpole at MC's entrance.
this season is my first in the vicinity of mountain creek in 7 years. i'm not up to skiing or much 'boarding, yet, but i'm woikin' on it.
now, then. any chance of the unhealthy preoccupation with my existence letting up? hell, you geraldo clones now know far more about me than i know about you all, combined!!!!!!!!!
