Yup, he sure did have lots of details -- that's why I'm not jumping up and down instantly crying "foul".
I truly am not sure about Vlad, but as I said, it just doesn't seem like human nature for ANYONE to jump into a group thats new to them, and do so with the authority and passion this guy did, no matter how well connected the person is.
Do you think that if Bode, Hermann, Lindsey, Rahlves or even an Olympian from years past suddenly discoved Epic, they would instantly have such an emotional attachment to this place that they would stop what they are doing and devote enough time per day to compose 600 messages to people they dont' know? No way. I think Vlad has to be someone who already has a lot of time invested in Epic, and for some reason wanted an alternate persona for a while.
BTW, the usual internet term for such people is not "troll", but "sock puppet".
With respect to all the details on Mountain Creek and racing that he supplied, clearly he (who ever he is) not only has been in the business for a long time, spent significant time in Europe, but as you guys point out, he must have a very strong, high level racing background, as well knows a lot about Mountain Creek. In addition, whoever he is has to be quite facile at composing and typing. This means that if he is indeed a regular that wanted to assume another persona, he probably is also a very active poster in his normal persona.
As far as I can tell, the above things don't leave very many people in the net. The problem is that of the regular posters that have most of the above "qualifications", I don't know enough about their backgrounds to know how acquainted they are with Mtn. Creek.
Maybe this leaves none of the regulars who fall into this category, but my gut feeling still agrees with the thread starter who felt that such behavior is, as he puts it, "remarkable".
So, ignoring the Mountain Creek connection for the moment, which of our regulars has:
- been floating around the country skiing much of his life like Mr. Vlad
- has a very strong (WC - level) racing background
- spent a significant amount of time in Europe skiing & coaching
- is a prolific poster
- is technically very knowledgeable and competant???
Now that I think of it, a year or so back, wasn't there a person named Skidog or Snowdog or something similar with a really similar m.o. that suddenly disappeared and there was talk of him being one of the regulars?
Then again, I could be completely wrong.
