I'm new to these forums and have been reading threads about boot fitting and ski selection with interest. But I don't really have a good reference point for the discussions about boot stiffness.
I only ski a few days a year, so I can't justify getting (or even trying on) new boots very often. So not only do I not have a current known preference for stiffness, I don't really know how stiff my current boots are.
I have a pair of ~5yo Rossignol Course X boots (26.5). They're lemon yellow with grey (from memory Rossi also had a similarly-coloured Course KX which was a bit stiffer). Could somebody please indicate to me what sort of boot they were - perhaps suggesting an approximate flex index, or a modern -day equivalent boot.
And if you'd like to go further...
I'm a 33yo, 5'9" and 75kg (~165lbs) male. I ski predominantly bumps, and would guess from what I have read on these forums that I'm a Level 9 skier. However having seen video of myself I definitely rely on technique rather than aggression - whilst I can zipperline pretty much anything I have come across, I dont really look like I'm trying hard enough (especially after having watched the world class moguls skiers these past few days at Turin).
Having recently been told that the Rossi KX (not the X that I wear) were very stiff I am wondering whether I might be skiing in boots too stiff for the type of skiing I mostly do, especially given my relative lack of aggression and moderate weight. FWIW I have been very happy with my boots, they're comfortable and I *think* they wrap pretty snuggly around my 9C foot.
