Is temporary up yet?

What say we get Mr. Crud out of the penalty box and back in the game?

Since you're not a supporter, dare I say you haven't even seen his best stuff.

Must have been a major.
Where's the camera in the penalty box?
Let's see some slamming the stick into the glass.
Toss that water bottle!

Reminds me of a time I sat in the highest of nosebeleed seats for a Bruins/Flyers game at the Fleetcenter. Just a few minutes into the game Bourque took Jagr to the end boards---head first, Jagr lie motionless on the ice---it looked dire from our seats. Without the noise box blaring it is eerily quiet way up there.

Bourque was given a game misconduct and as soon as the call was made---Jagr popped up and skated away.

I've always believed Jagr was fishing for a more severe penalty as he missed no more than one shift and certainly was not hurt.

Unlike UC, Bourque was rarely in the penalty box and I've been told I was there for one of only a handful of gamers he received in his carreer.

Total thread hijack...

... but worth it.

When the Avs won the Cup in 2001 they broke every rule in the book and sent it home with Bourque that night. He went around his block and banged on everybody's door... they partied in the street until 4AM.

Gotta love a guy like that!

I was once a target of Gonzostrike's "flare for the written word". I wouldn't expect anything less from somenone in his profession. Didn't let it get to me and it was really harmless. For the most part, he reminds me of Shrek. He's a lovable Ogre! The swamp isn't the same without him.

RE: Gonz... loveable? Haven't seen any sign of that, gotta say. But you're right that the swamp is a lot less clever, vitriolic, profane, challenging, thought provoking and funny without him.

The Supporter's Lounge has been kinda slow. . . and no one jumped all over my Erich Fromm references, well, someone cryptically did, and kinda cryptically called me I am not sure what :. . . I am sure I would have understood the Crud Man's derision.

I say let him back in to play. . . I need the entertainment!

And didn't the Fish Man crop up this morning on his Enron thread? Thought he was benched, too.

All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

Okay...who forgot to lock the cage door after feeding time again.

If he's back, where's UC?...or why not UC?

Looks like a game misconduct and 10 game suspension to me.

I left town for a few days and missed all the fun

Perhaps Crud directed his insulting manner in the wrong direction this time. How many times is it going to take for him to behave in a mature manner? I say not yet.

I don't think people should make comments like this without seeing some of what goes on in the Lounge. Gonz displays much of his brilliance, coupled with much of his vitriol, in that more open setting. It is pretty ridiculous to say that he is immature, IMO. He is intellectually arrogant, but then again so am I.

The difference is he has the intelligence and experience to support such "arrogance". But then again, that's a different subject.

Uncle Crud/Gonzostrike has been sent to the chair in the corner several times. dchan would need to fill in all the details. When he comes back he minds his p's & q's for awhile. Then he seems to start pushing the envelope until he gets sent to the corner again.

He has contributed to the forum, however, when the vitreol starts flowing I tune out the discussions. Some modicum of decorum needs to be practiced in any discussion. Just because this is the internet does not mean that civil discussion should take a back seat to FLAMING!

I knew a guy like UC back in law school. He was a big-wig professor, we were the scum of the earth 1L's. He was highly educated, well-credentialed, and incredibly arrogant. We were educated, credentialed, and incredibly arrogant. He'd rip us apart day after day, always making sure to remind us how little we knew in comparison to him. At the end of each week, however, he'd have us all over to his home for dinner and drinks -- mostly to remind us how little we knew!

I haven't been around here long enough to speak with authority, but I do know that I had my own run in with the Gonz early on. Although it got to me at first, I quickly realized what he was doing. I've enjoyed his contributions, both positive and less-than positive, ever since.

I say bring him back!

Ok, ok. It was probably at least partly my fault for sending UC to the penalty box, I'm the one who got slashed.

the thing is, see, I really LIKED gonzo/uc. I thought his manner was abrupt and harsh, but he really told it like it was to some people who really needed to be told how it was. VK and I really enjoyed reading his posts.

but out of nowhere he turned on me...I never really engaged him in any way, just sat back and enjoyed his brashness. but it sucks to have that vitriol turned on you.

He insulted my beleifs, my patriotism, my fathers patriotism, and my father, who only recently passed away (august.) Needless to say it really did sting. Alot. and the fact that it was completely unprovoked added to the sting.

There was no need to be that way. I am a left leaning yellow dog democrat. I do not support the war. but I am not above caring about the veterans of previous ones, and this one. its a matter near and dear to my heart. I dont see how he took offense to that, or why it spurred this stream of hateful venom.

Now I cant say that I enjoy his attacks on others when whining about his attacks on me, but this was above and beyond his usually cutting remarks. but maybe I am hypersensitive due to the recent loss. Or maybe i am just susceptble to hurtful barbs like everyone else is...

And as far as intellectual arrogance...well, I think that was a little beyond that. the Intellectually arrogant would have just sniffed and not bothered to respond, or done so in a flippant way. that was a head on attack.

and its not fair, if I say one thing out of anger, or perhaps a bit controversial, like questioning a long time "expert" on this board, its only minutes before you are all coming up my driveway with torches and pitchforks.

But whatever. if you all want him back, I guess I can grow some thicker skin....I'll wear a helmet when posting from now on. I miss his posting too, as long as I am not the target of that kind of hatred.

LindaA -

Just remember, it's ONLY the internet. I need a thicker skin too by the way.

Welcome to the ranks of the flame-thrower proving ground test dummies. You become masochistic after a while and get to actually enjoy it.

Hands Linda a jar of Silvadene, and hides her own Flame-o-matic behind her back.

(Applies Silvadene liberally to a$$)

Ahhhh. much better. needs skin grafting after that one.

you are so right, it is only the internet. I shouldn't really care so much.

I think admin should limit UC's posting to one forum only. It can be called Uncle Cruds Throne Room or something. Good grief, now I'm picturing him sitting on the john reading the Sunday op-ed section. The smell! The odor!
very fitting, "Uncle Crud's Throne Room" a good place to spew such excrement.

(LindaA enters with a rapier drawn..."I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.)

I dunno. I dont think i am the sole reason for his banning, I might be the proverbial back breaking straw, though.

Anyway, I say bring him back, too. ill just grit my teeth and bear it.

enuff

Bring him back...

Just lose "uncle crud" please I'm beggin ya!!!

:Gonzostrike!!!!!!!!

Gonz is a great member. His replies are abrasive, but in a forum where people often don't say what needs to be said for fear or offending someone he is a breath of fresh air. Time out doesn't seem to bother him, and at the end of the day I think he still respects EpicSki for what it is - and that is the important part. I think gonzo has been here ever since I have been here (that is a long time; closing in on 6 years now?). I don't recall ever taking the brunt of one of his bashings, but I am certain it could happen at anytime... would I hate the guy for it... of course not. I also don't get caught up in the political debates and other lounge type discussions that occur around the forum...

Oh yeah - go back to Gonzostrike - I like it better... I do enjoy combining the two though... Uncle Gonzo...

Later

I've read this thread for a while trying to decide whether or not to respond to it. Please understand that there is but one requirement to participate in these forums and that is to agree to abide by the Terms of EpicSki.com as written and then to do so. Violations of the agreements are handled a number of ways, but commitment to abiding by them is the requirement to participate on EpicSki even after violations.

I hope this clarifies the policies and how some of these things happen.

Okay, so who's gonna apply under the Freedom of Information Act to find out the length of sentence?
