No not me. but another ski Industry Giant is relocating to Ogden UT. Rossignol is moving thier North American Headquarters and Distribution To Ogden. Somebody in Ogden must be going after ski companies to relocate. Goode skis are nw in Ogden. I believe that Volkl now has it's US distribution there as well. I know that there is one or two other ski business now in the same area.
So is Ogden becoming the US Epicenter for The ski industry?

Apparently this is the plan, focus on becoming the hub of the Ski Industry. It is an excellent plan.

Ogden is a great place to purchase a home at this time. I doubt it will always be this good of a deal.

Yes Ogden's mayor is activly seeking these ski industry giants to relocate to the old Defense Depot. Good tax incentives, cheap cost of living and a great resort have done the job so far, Rossignol joins DNA, Goode,Scott and Kahuna as some of the big names.

Might have to start looking for some Ogden Real Estate before it turns into another Aspen, Vail or Park City. Ohg wait Ogden is a terrible place to live who wants to live in that mess? Don't even think about Ogden. Well at least don't buy untill I buy 2 or 3 Places that I can flip.

There are plans to build a gondola from downtown Ogden to the summit of the nearby peaks for access to a new resort and to exsisting Snowbasin/Pow Mow. This is all part of the other incentives that are attracting some of the giants in the ski industry to relocate. Buy property now boys and girls!

Utah49, do you ever think about cashing out your PC appreciation and moving to that area?

I do, I often think about cashing out on our climbing prices and purchasing something in Ogden Valley or along the East Bench of S. Ogden. I know they don't have the happenings of PC but damn it is nice to ski without the crowds.

And this is how the lack of crowds comes to an end. Everytime I ski now I miss the old days.

Actually, rossignol is moving thier HQ'ers to PC, they are just moving the distribution end to Ogden. The distribution has been in Clearfield (10 miles south of Ogden) for years.

I think about it all the time. I don't know to much about Ogden I have checked out some Homes up by Weber State nice area reminds me of the Avenues in Salt Lake City at 1/2 the price you would pay for a place in the Avenues. Ogden Valley is starting to get expensive. Not Park City prices but it is moving up. Looked at Morgan. There is something about that town that appeals to me. Since I work on Main St here in Park City the commute would be a killer no matter what area around Ogden looked good.

our driver on the shuttle from park city to snowbasin (and back) made a point of alerting us to the acre lots for sale for a couple songs not far down the road from snowbasin. definitely made one want to do some homework.

If it's the big sign on the west side of trappers loop road, it's a scam, the lots that the sign is on is not what is for sale.

Hey Utah, i thought i read some where n the Utah Media,, that Rossi was building thier dist. center east of PC.
They have always had a Western Region Dist. Center in Clearfield at the old Freeport center.
So did Ogden, steal it away?

interesting. thank you for the cliffs note. i was, i have to say, very intrigued. and still am, re: ogden. however, something about the driver's enthusiasm was a little, just a trace, antenna-raising.

then again, i am a cynic.

thanks.

Yea, I called the number on that sign and found out it was a scam as well.

The best buy in Morgan Vally is probably in Morgan town, which is about 40 minutes from PC and 20 minutes from Snowbasin. You can pick up a nice home there for under 300.

but you can still purchase a home in Mountain Green for the mid 400s, about 8 minutes from Snowbasin.

Hell, you can pick up a nice home in Morgan for under 250.

I can only report what I heard on the News the other night. On Channel 13 News they stated, that Rossignol was moving thier North American Headquarters from VT and all thier distribution to Ogden. Commercial rents in Park City are pretty steep. Affordable housing in Summit county, is now a thing of the past. In fact Summit County is being sued for not providing low and moderate income housing. Rossie may have changed thier minds about having Headquarters in the Park City area.

The whole Rossi move to PC makes total sense when you look back to the fact that Rossi was bought out by Quicksilver (based out of Huntington Beach, CA) in the past year, and Quicksilver also owns Roxy/DC Shoe which both have a solid winter sports presence. It's clear that Quicksilver knows that if they can consolodate each of these brands they can really get a firmer grip on the winter sports market and to base their winter brands in PC, closer to their HQ in CA, makes sense. What will be really interesting is the moves that Quicksilver makes from here on out - they've already introduced a Roxy Ski (made by Dynastar) so what comes next - a DC ski or ski boot?!
