Modifying the boot isn't necessary - the "Rossi Race 2" is a perfect flex for his current size. It's the "jr butterscotch" with no upper cuff adjustment
He has the skill to arc the 136 effectively - the 130 is not supporting his size or ability. His timing will be off for awhile as he adapts. He appears to be getting good coaching.
Don't widen his stance. His stance width is natural and effective. His use of two edges is rudimentary.
I'm looking at the slalom, and seeing the skis swimming under him. The 'arcs' are minimal. As you say, the edging is "rudimentary".o I'd like to see it get better before he's shoved onto an even stiffer ski. for what it is worth, I'd like to see him ride in the center of a fully flexed ski.
He's very athletic, so he makes the stiff ones work.
The size of his feet are telling. Remember, he is 70 pounds, so his feet are long, narrow and will be weaker at the ankle because of that length. When he catches up to his feet, then the skis can get stiffer.
His boot is identical to the Lange Team 80. I suggest pull the pins and let him tell you how that works.... I would bet that he gets more forward, his balance improves and his skis hunt less as a result of a more centered position. He does not appear to be pressuring the tongues of the boots alot, since his skis are swimming.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
