Help with trip planning - from NY Mar 8-12

Here's the situation:

Heading to NYC to watch some college basketball on March 8. (Big East Tourney) As soon as my team loses (which will realistically be the 8th (Wed) or the 9th (Thurs)) We hope to make a run to the slopes immediately thereafter for the rest of the weekend.

Given the season out East so far is it worth heading to the southern Vermont areas or should we just head to the Hunter/Windham areas? The thought being that the conditions would make skiing roughly the same and we're closer to home (Baltimore) at the end of the weekend. Don't get me wrong though, I'm all about the experience so if somebody tells me that its worth the extra hours to head elsewhere, I can be swayed.

Thanks for your input.

Hunter/Windham (the whole Catskill region) got between 4-8 inches of new snow yesterday. Plus they've been blowing snow every night this past week and will most likely do so until the temps rise again. Check out Plattekill. They always get more snow than the rest of the Catskills because of how they face. If they have snow, you cant beat it. If not, Hunter/Windham.

Also don't forget Belleayre in the Catskills or Mountain Creek in NJ! MC just got a foot! Not as big or as nice as the Catskill resorts but closer to NYC.
