Let's hear your reasons for not including any additional info on your profile.

If you aren't one of 'those', tell me what your thoughts are about why 'they' do that!

Cirquerider,
I keep getting an error on the map page, but I'm either a few miles West of Fort Lauderdale or I'm in Park City.

Well, the internet is not exactly the safest place. There are all kinds of crazies on the net and I am sure alot of people don't want personal information being spread around the net. That is pretty simple answer to come up with

Piss off some idiot crazy person and they go google your name. They now have your personal profile and personal information to come mess with you etc etc. Though my house is more armed than fort knox it would be a tragic mistake for someone to come mess woth my family.

For any crazies out there: I am a honorably discharged US Army Ranger trained with my weapons so do yourselves a favor and stay away from my very very very fine house !

I personally don't mind putting some personal info up here and there. Even though sometimes I think I should not have done that.

I never look at member's profile. But I think that it's sometimes useful to know a member's general location. Many people don't list a location.

OK Huck, you're on my side!
Where are You?

I'm talking about at least age and location or basic stuff ... nothing that can reveal an identity.

I am on the other side of the country carbonissimo.
I am in central/ upstate NY in Verona. At the southeast edge of the Adirondack Park.

Now that we know THAT, when's the party?

I dunno..

People are scared that their identity would get compromised:.. That being said with just the basic info on Bikeforums, someone figured I worked for the same company/different location as him.. A bit akward...

Its a small world out there.

Dude, your mother didn't tell you about playing with sticks?

My mom did not find the humor in this picture even though I told her the story that we were just being goofy drunks for the camera. The guy in the orange hat is my bro in law and ski partner.

When she seen the flame she was like, ":JASON, you hit him with that" and I just died laughing.

Because even in ski discussion groups, there are kooks like the guy in this story:

By the way, "the war" is still going on over in RSA.

How stupid:

If you are new to Epic, you may not realize that some of the innocent, horribly slanderized / libeled targets of the kook of RSA are active participants right here on Epic. The RSA kook even drove many of the casual on-lookers from RSA to Epic. Until you have met and experienced a person with serious mental problems, you have no idea of the ends to which they will go to stalk, bully, and pursue whatever violent or other goals they may have. Even worse is realizing how little the LEAs can do about a terrifying individual on the Internet until that person actually commits a crime in the "real" world.

Even just a single tangential exposure to someone like this is enough to convince most people not to post personal information about themselves anywhere on the Internet (not just Epic) unless there is a compelling reason to do so - for example, getting their name publicized is essential to their business.

This is why some of prefer to use aliases and just provide general information about ourselves.

Roger That, among other reasons. I don't need someone stalking me into myhouse due to some words that hurt. No mercy would be given!
