When did you get hooked - Page 3

First Skiied when I was 7yrs old (1968). Remember it well. Lech in Austria with my parents and twin bro. We were supposed to stay for 2 weeks..got snowed in and stayed for 3. Week one, thrown out of ski school..thats what happens when you put twins together armed with skis and poles...my sympathies to all you ski instructors out there who have to put up with this kind of crap behaviour. Week two, tried to get cablecar/tram hooked up with a long cord with red and white flags attached..Tram operator stopped the tram and came after us...operator won the foot race...head ducked in deep snow for what seemed a very long time. Bro got nailed too.Week three, we decided we might live a little longer if we focused on skiing. By the end of week 3 , both jumping off the roofs of little mountain huts. I was hooked big time. Have grown up a little since then (i think) . Will be in Lech Austria with my own kids and my brother with his kids in 4 weeks time. Ofcourse we wont tell them what brats we were way back when Besides, most of the places where our misdemeanours occured are long gone and replaced by huge ski lodges.

First time!

Hi, I am new to the board. I love the posts and helpful hints with my poor turning!

My sister and I went to the local "bump" in Ohio, Mad River. WE skied the night session and had no clue. Mind you, I am a decent athlete and I was so mad I refused to give up! I couldn't for the life of me figure out how this could be so hard! I listened to a father give lessons to his daughter for about an hour. That was it, I was hooked. I haven't skied much, but I love it! Now that we live in Erie I will get to ski a little more than when I lived in Atlanta!

Started at the age of 49 at Breckenridge. Wish I had started sooner...
