Comparing the XP to the 5500 is akin to comparing wiskey to wine. They're both good, but they're not the same. The XP got me through some really crappy snow and was Cadillac smooth - not the quickest turner in the bunch, but I really enjoyed it. The 5500 was very easy - in fact, I skied it one length longer than my usual. Anyone who can ski would have an easy time with that at reasonable speeds. I wouldn't choose it over the XP, though.
Let's say that the XP was a Hummvee with a Cadillac ride, and the 5500 was a Dodge Neon (no offense intended - to the 5500, that is
