We will be there on Valentines day and I was real excited about the torchlight descent which included a wonderful meal for $55 but they only have that on thursdays(15th). I could use some other suggestion on what I could suprise my wife with that day if anyone has some.
They've been getting a good amount of snow over the last couple of weeks, so it should be great: good bowls, trees/glades, groomers (lots of these), and rumored to have some good off-piste stuff as well.
There is a great spa in town run by a woman by the name on Sonia -- something like sun peaks massage therapy and spa. You could surprise your partner w/ a massage or something like that. Restaurants are ok. Nothing great in my opinion; also didn't have a bad meal. The uptop meal with the torchlight run down... haven't done it. The place they hold the dinner is small, typical serve yourself (during the day), ski cafeteria kind of place. I'd expect it would be fun (if the weather was good), and the food would be ok. I think you'd all need to be intermediate skiers to get down at night, though.
Other options: back country cat skiing from top of the world; hoping a ride with a groomer on their snocat at night to get the experience. There are some folks on the board who know the place far better than I do, so hopefully they'll chime in.
Overall: it's a great joint. No crowds. Nice locals. No scene. and no grocery stores up there -- you must shop in kamloops for food (beyond milk and eggs, which you can get at a small convenience store). Good skiing, when there is snow coverage.
