So after the last trip to the west my teenage daughter is advancing to the point where I am thinking about buying her first pair of rippers so that she can keep up with the old man on his Atomic GS:11's.

Daughter is 5'11" (180cm) and about 115lbs (52kg) and is a rapidly advancing expert, 16 years old and has been skiing for ten years but only the last 3-4 years more seriously. She learned to ski from me so the emphasis is on power and curved turns. I would like to get something that would be world cup fis legal for her, ie at least 180cm and 21m side cut, so that she can see what a real ski is like.

But given the height, weight and skill level I am considering a bit of a finesse ski for her. Some of the skis I have been thinking about are the Volkl P60 in a 180 cm or a Dynastar course in a 178 or 184? I have heard really good things about the P60 as an all around ski that is responsive but not overly demanding. Looking at the Dynastar it seems to be a little damp, maybe like the Rossis, but again kind of a medium finesse ski. Of course my understanding on either of these is that they would be just fine at 35 mph plus.

Or would I be better looking at a detuned GS ski, like the Atomic LT's, GS 9's or maybe the older Fischer Worldcup with the 17m sidecut? I have to confess that if I buy her a pair I may want to give the things a spin myself, so something other than an Atomic is tempting.

Anybody have any thoughts here, anything else I should be looking at?
