Need to get from Reno to Alpine

Thread Starter
I need to figure out any other options for round-trip shuttle services soon; I am flying next week to Reno.

The plan is:
Day 1: Reno -- Squaw
Day 2: Reno -- Alpine
Day 3: Reno -- Heavenly

For day 1, I have shuttle from Reno to Squaw. $10 round-trip: good price.

For day 2, there is no shuttle from Reno directly to Alpine and this is the only option I have, which might not work out because the shuttle from Squaw to Alpine might leave (8:50-9am), which is before the shuttle from Reno to Squaw arrives (9am).

Any other options, or I'll just have to skip this trip.

For day 3, to Heavenly, the cheapest option I have found is:
http://www.southtahoeexpress.com/ind...n=home.default
which is at $40 round-trip and I have to take it at the airport too. I don't even know if it stops at the Heavenly gondola. Any other options?

Thanks.

Have you tried:

By train: Amtrak (800-872-7245) serves Truckee and Reno on the California Zephyr line, running from Oakland to Chicago.

By bus: Shuttles run from almost every major hotel to each major ski resort. Check for schedules when you arrive.
Sierra Nevada Gray Lines (800-822-6009; 775-329-1147) operates a daily ski shuttle between Reno and Alpine Meadows as well as Northstar-at-Tahoe (except Saturdays). Squaw Valley USA (800-446-2928) operates a Reno/South Lake Tahoe Shuttle from mid-December through the end of March. Tahoe Casino Express (800-446-6128) runs between Reno airport and South Shore.

Rent a car!!! A midsize is $120 for the week and parking at all 3 areas (use Nevada side of Heavenly and it's closer to Reno anyway) is very good if you get there 45 min prior to lift opening(weekend) or almost anytime(weekday). Much more convenient, but if you must save $$$ at all cost, work the shuttles.
