OMG... Bode strikes again!

Thread Starter
MSNBC is reporting that in an interview with Rolling Stone to be released tomorrow, Bode suggested that Barry Bonds and Lance Armstrong both doped.
I heard he also compared Hermann Maier's personality to a plant.

Ski racing is starting to sound more and more like professional wrestling.

I'll still be cheering him on, though.

This is all the part of a well developed PR machine. Ever heard the expression "there is no such thing as bad publicity". :

Cheers,

Michael

I can't wait to see them come up to the gate with some rockin' intro music. How about when the metal chairs come out? Skiing is in a big change. Should be fun to watch though. "Stone Cold Steve Austin qualified 3rd today in the Super G."

If Bode wants to be known as a brain dead pseudo-celebrity then his comments are very appropriate.

If he wants to be known as a great skier then he is going about it the wrong way entirely.

He seems to have made the decision that he wants to go down the path of the burned out, substance addicted, self abusing ex-sports star. Pity, he was such a good skier.

What a scoop! Next he'll accuse Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis of doping. :

I can't wait till he starts on politics!
(and he will have to, as he'll want to show more depth of character, and provide more talk to make up for lack of action)

I'm pulling for Bode to get a silver behind an American in each event.

I just like Daron's style so much more.

I agree. He's smart enoughto know that it will get more airtime, sell more books and ultimately more money.

I've said it before: don't be so surprised: Bode's just a dimwitted jock. That's okay, he was put on this planet to ski fast, not to give accurate social commentary. Only thing is, he should concentrate on the skiing.

If his Barilla TV ad is anything to go by, he is almost totally lacking in personality so I can't imagine there's any great strategy/humor/shockjock value behind his repeated stupid remarks...

As for Armstrong and doping. I also didn't enjoy watching a republican from Texas win a great sporting event over and over again, but perhaps he never used doping: they never caught him out (and don't forget that the French will have tried in many ways).....

Personally I have always thought that Armstrong must have used all manner of performance enhancing and muscle building drugs for his recovery after cancer, but not during his years competing for the Tour as the risks would be too great.

Of course he did, and he says so as well.

Barry? On Steroids?...can't possibly be true can it? Could this taint his until now saint-like reputation? I was wodering how that mellon of his had expanded so much over the years...until now thought is was just the flax seed oil..
Hope he never breaks Hank's HR record and if he does there should be a slew of ************next to his name

God Bless America. We live in a country where everyone can have an opinion and express it. It doesn't mean others have to agree.

Personally, whether you agree or not with what he says, Bode Miller is anything but stupid. He is smart enough to have figured out how to do things his way and get to the top of his sport as well as being able to make a lot of money doing so.

you'll recall Newsweek's Bode cover. REBEL in big font. Thus is one a "rebel," whether or not one actually is and - not to be too disingenuous -whatever the hell that means. makes the message user-friendly. our reading comprehension levels at their lowest, easier to one-word everything. it's ridiculous but how it goes here. "Bode Claims Earth is Flat, News at 11."

astrologists'll tell you it's his, uh, Capricorn Return; shaking out the nonworkable on the way to the next edition of self. uh huh.

whatever.

the way the mag's are in What Bode Said mode, you'd think there were olympic games coming up or something.

where's the beef?

I recently read his article in Time, but I grabbed the new Maxim cause I think its a hilarious magazine. Anyway they had a article on him in there that nailed the whole party animal thing. The inerviewer descriped going drink for drink with him with red bull and vodkas and the article is laced with profanity, good stuff. He actually sounds like a pretty cool guy.....

after Lance has been retired for a few seasons, he'll admit to his doping. he'll say, as have all the others, "everyone does it, so it's necessary to be competitive."

that's what I'm guessing.

he sounds real.

he seems like he doesn't line up to be told how/what/when to do/be.

he sounds like a young man enjoying youngmanhood on the world cup tour. didn't tomba have a pretty good time. didn't hermann maier get arrested in aspen for taking someone's bike - not his -for a spin? don't a lot of these guys pound once in awhile?

this is sillystuff.

i hope young mr. miller smokes some serious ass in italy.

nike's gotta dig it.

he has admitted to using them, eh? when did he do this? have you not seen the Nike commercials where he alleges that the only thing he's "on" is his bike?

It's just a matter of time before he starts dating Paris Hilton.

Uh, that's completely untrue. The fact of the matter is, Armstrong has been tested more times than any other professional athlete and never once tested positive.
